My latest C5 has parking sensors front and rear and there is an LED display of sorts at the bottom centre of the windscreen, or at least I take it thats what it is but it doesn't do much. I parked in a car park today and as I approached a wall and a couple of bars let up - then I hit the wall.
This doesn't look like on original display more like an after market one, can anyone give me some info?
Thanks
Peter

Peter if this is the vehicle VIN ending in 688, then it does NOT have factory fitted parking assistance neither front nor rear).
What you have is an aftermarket add-on, evidently unreliable.

It does indeed end in 688 and certainly doesn't look original but the wires are all concealed and how they ran them I have no idea but the sensors look genuine. Most odd.

I can tell you that your VIN states no Factory Parking assistance and they do NOT add the sensors when not part of the trim or option as they cost a fortune.
This is an aftermarket add-on and Citroen do supply a rear and front system made by METASYSTEM France for aftermarket fitting, but is not the same as the original factory fitted options.

Thanks Marc, I have since found a kit with the same display on Ebay, if that's where the fault lies I might just get one, the whole kit is only about £12.00.
The silver one has the original parking sensors but they ceased working when the radio and satnav packed up.

If the same £12 kit is not reliable and results in bumper damage, why not spend a bit more if something better is available ?

Re: 2010 C5 Parking sensor display?
Hi Paul
I wasn't thinking of fitting the whole kit, the fault as far as I can tell is in the display as not all the the segments light up so I was just thinking of swapping the display once I have checked to see its the same. The sensors look similar to the genuine ones in the other car on which the system doesn't work due to a BSI fault, so I have 6 spare ones if the spec is the same.

No, the sensors likely will not be - as this is not an OEM system Peter.

OK Marc thanks again, I know very little about them that's why I keep asking silly questions.
