Forum Maintenance Work 6/8/2023

Post by xantia_v6 »

I intend to reboot the forum server tomorrow morning (about 7am) following a server kernel update. This should take less than 10 minutes.
I may also take the forum offline in the evening for some server testing (this may be moved to a later date, depending on my schedule).

I happened to be around when the forum was quiet, so have successfully performed the reboot, and have postponed the testing for a few days because I found some other enabling work that needs to be done first.

Thanks Mike, Forum seems to be zipping along nicely at present, despite me having a thumping toothache.

Ouch! Oil of cloves (dabbed onto a finger and then onto the offending tooth) might help with the pain. Paracetamol (which is a pain killer) can also help.

... Paracetamol (which is an anti-inflammatory) can also help.
Sorry to be picky, but aspirin and ibuprofen are (non-steroidal) anti-inflammatories, while Paracetamol is a pain killer, but not an anti-inflammatory.

When I had a dying nerve in a molar (causing quite annoying pain) the only thing that gave relief (well I didn't try the really hard stuff) was sucking a piece of ice, or swilling cold water. Very temporary, as the ice melted and the cold water warmed in the mouth, but it did help me get through until the dentist could get stuck into the root canal.

I need to take the forum offline to do some DNS reconfiguration.

I plan to do this tomorrow morning (13/8/2023), there will be an outage of up to 20 minutes, some time between 6:30am an 8am. UK time.

It is a lot easier to schedule maintenance when I am in New Zealand.
