Thoughts on what to do with my garden are much encouraged

Two suggestions:
A garden rockery needs very little maintenance once constructed and allowed to develop itself.
Almost every week at the auctions in Bedford and St Neotts they offer rolls of artificial turf, usually around 4m x 2m which may be another maintenance free option which looks more welcoming than decking or patio stones!!

Your garden used to be good at growing Xantia subframes

Here is a shot of what I did with our NZ garden to reduce the maintenance:

The grasses are Lomandra Tanaka which grow to about 60 cm, and when mature are dense enough that weeds won't grow underneath them. Sine I took that shot last year, they have grown to cover the beds, so the bark is no longer needed.

I don't know how you would replicate the view over the hedge...

It still grows one! Almost buried in a big clump of rhubarb now... It's got to go, along with a green S1 Xantia rear bumper that sits on top of it... Neither will fit in my Saxo and I'll need some serious removal assistance. Any offers will be hugely welcome I also have a big lump of faux slate kitchen worktop to go too. That is just oversize for the Saxo too...

Are you starting a mobile kitchen? An H-van would be more suited to that than a Saxo although you could drag it behind and keep salt in it.

If it wasn't for the fact you appear to be allergic to cat hair I would suggest asking Mike if he can get you a farm cat from his brother. Mike's newest addition to the 'Pride of Twyford' is a phenomenal hunter, and is decimating the avian population!

I'm not just allergic to cat hair James, it's cats in general and in fact, most all creatures that aren't human.

Plus, my lifestyle is totally incompatible with keeping any kind of pet whatsoever... I'm hardly ever home for one thing and one reason, out of several thousand, for doing all I'm doing is so that I can spend MORE time away from home and not have to worry about it...

A snake perhaps?
Bought my youngest one for her ninth birthday, at her insistence.
She was 39 last week so the snake was 30. Died a couple of days before her birthday.
Chuck it a rat once a month, clean the vivarium three days later, fresh water daily and that is all it needs.

Definitely not a snake Steve, no way! And yes James, cats are pretty much allergic to me... Robyn's cat briefly came and had a sniff round me yesterday and quickly decided I was not worthy! That's good enough for me...

Anyway, I have a pet - she's called Bluebell

Another very busy day today, starting off with timekeeping at Junior parkrun and then back to domestic work...

Another load for the tip in the morning Including a lot of rubbish from the garden...

Photo taken before the car was properly filled! I could not go to the tip today as all the slots had been taken when I tried to book...

A waste oil container half full of oil and much else was added after giving Pix a full service..

Still bits to do but the bulk of the job is now done... I even hoovered out the attic this afternoon!

The biggest job now is to go through all of my and dad's old archive paperwork and documents and get what's no longer needed disposed of securely.

It's been a very busy couple of weeks but very, very satisfying to have got it done and now I can relax a little knowing what had become a millstone around my neck has now gone

An epic weekend... For many reasons...

It started with a trip to Stratford upon Avon to ride the UKCE Cotswolds Sportive 73 very hilly miles around some absolutely gorgeous scenery and pretty villages in howling wind with a nice heavy rainstorm chucked in for good measure

And then the absolute highlight of the weekend - running the Bath Two Tunnels Half Marathon Awesome in the extreme! Running through long railway tunnels is a bit of an experience...

I have loads of pictures that will in due course appear in various OTCL threads... The Two Tunnels was a very scenic one and I kept stopping to take photos!

There's other significant news but that can wait until later when things are a little more certain and firmed-up
