C5 X7 Estate 2010 Interior head light adjustment not working
Drove my latest addition in the dark for the first time last night and the headlights are set to low, the adjuster on the steering column doesn't do anything. First time I have had this problem. Where should I start?
Thanks
Peter

Set the level to 0 for the front passengers only.
0. 1 or 2 people in the front seats.
-.3 people.
1. 5 people.
-.Intermediate setting.
2. 5 people + maximum authorised
loads.
-.Intermediate setting.
3. Driver + maximum authorised
loads.
If you still think it is too low then set it to '0' and get it adjusted at an MOT place or a garage that has proper beam measurement equipment. They'll adjust it accordingly.

It doesn't alter the light at all Marc, the one on the other car is fine so something has gone wrong, I'm just wondering where to start looking, on the lights or the rheostat/pot?

Ok, so you need to run Diagbox, do a global test and check to see if you get the following fault code: C1146.
If you do, then it means replacement of one or more of the headlamp adjustment units. These are separate for the left and right headlamps and may have failed.

(15) Headlight Corrector, part: 6224S7, £137.98 each.
Your build date is 12266.
From 13844 (October 2014) new reinforced headlight adjusters were used. So yours certainly fall into the affected date. Are you getting a message up on any of the LCD or screens concerning this when you try to adjust the lights when they are switched on?
Anyway check with Diagbox, but if you are are NOT getting the specific fault code C1146 then it needs further troubleshooting.

Thanks for that Marc. I have a complete car in the field so have all the bits, just a question of finding what I need. No messages displayed.

So as I've marked on the diagram the adjuster is item 15 if you are getting the specified fault code.
If not that code, then you may have an earthing problem on the circuit.

Re: C5 X7 Estate 2010 Interior head light adjustment not working
Thanks again Marc but it seems to have healed up. I put the lights on tonight and they were higher, I tried moving them down and eventually they did. I think they probably hadn't been used for a long time and had just got sticky. I have filed your information away just in case. The rear interior lights don't work now but I wouldn't think that would be to difficult.
Thanks again for your assistance.

Re: C5 X7 Estate 2010 Interior head light adjustment not working
Peter, Not having any experience with these, but would it be prudent to remove the adjusters and give the sqirt of fine silicon lubricant/cleaner.? As in my experience of small gizmos, they won't think twice of failing again if not given some tlc.Peter.N. wrote: 11 Aug 2023, 23:14 Thanks again Marc but it seems to have healed up. Bear in mind the correction may only be seen with dipped headlamps on with ignition switched on and not in economy mode.Peter.N. wrote: 11 Aug 2023, 23:14 Thanks again Marc but it seems to have healed up.
