We've some buddleia, not so much prune it as hack it down nearly the the ground about once a year. It produces quite surprisingly woody stuff to get rid of but the shredder chomps it quite successfully.

As said, bees and butterflies love it.

Scamps were still being built up until a couple of years ago, but the owner put the business up for sale and it doesn't look like they've had any takers yet.
