Hi all, this is the second time water has leaked into the driver footwell. Yesterday after heavy rain and the car parked on a down hill facing down. The previous leak was after a drive through car wash a few months ago. I don't recall any other times it has leaked. So, I guess it only happens when there is a large amount of water deposited and maybe when the car is stationary.
I can't see any obvious leak point under the dashboard or from the scuttle area. Wondered if it was the door seal (my old XM driver door seal leaked a bit into the footwell) but the seal looks fine.
It's a pano roof tourer C5 and I have a pair of roof bars on the rails. Not sure that makes a difference. Is there any drainage tubes under the scuttle that might be blocked? I recall there being a large, empty area below the scuttle when I changed the window wiper motors over a year ago. But I cannot see in there with the wipers and scuttle etc all in place.
Any previous cases of this known?

Where do you live, hot climate or UK? How much water in the footwell?

Yes I ask the stupid questions, because normally it is that simple.

Re: C5 X7 water leaking in to driver footwell!
I cannot speak for the X7 but on all my C5s, MK 1s, and on my C4 Picasso there were drain tubes at the wing ends of the scuttle void. In all four cars I experienced blocked tubes resulting in wet carpets. In the end I fitted a gauze cover over the top of the tubes to catch the majority of the leaf/plant material that gets washed there and made a point of sucking them clean with the wet and dry vac at every wash (2-3 weeks in my case). After adopting that routine my carpets remained dry as a bone!!
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

Hi, yes UK so WET. I think I'll have to take the scuttle cover off and have a look down to see if there are blocked drains.

Graeme,
Worth checking your rear wiper screen wash, the pipe comes in at the driver's footwell above accelerator pedal from the offside wheel arch, runs along the sill the up to tailgate. It should be a continuous pipe.the joint is hidden behind the inner wing accessed through wheel arch.
