Why oh why do they not simply use existing services with this as an extension? I've already jumped through a thousand hoops, verification with passport and everything else to get a Government Gateway account for NI checks etc., another for LPA and now this?

Too many accounts with the same sensitive information is nuts and exposes you to more risk.

I was just going to say "what a load of bollocks", but Marc said it so much more politely.

For a start, I have to remember 7 different passwords for work, and type them in every day before my PC is connected to everything I need, and 2 of those have 2FA. Then I have all my personal passwords and PIN codes, online banking codes and pass codes .. I'm not sure how many more I can remember. The one amazing ability I do have is to remember passwords, codes, phone numbers and car number plates.

:rofl2: It was hard to resist using a few choice expletives, I must say.

Apart from an initial foray I have never been able to access the Government Gateway. I doubt the DVLA one would be any different.

I've been using this since its inception and find it good... Taxed two cars via it now...

Rediscovered this thread whilst searching for a home for something else...

Sorted the tax out for the Mazda 6 and it was very good, if you ignore the fact that I put a few extra characters in my registration number.

Fortunately. Would have been embarrassing to tax someone else's car.
Checked the MOT and it is good for 11 months.
