Hi,
Trying to work out how to reset after Eolys tank has been filled (Citroen DS5 1.6HDi 2014).
I think the mechanic who did this last year did not reset. Now getting a 'Service' warning light.
Diesel Fuel additive pump info on Autel MK808 scanner reports current quantity in additive tank as 3%, yet Engine ECU Exhaust Line 1 reports additive amount in additive tank as 1190ml which is about 90%.
Any advice much appreciated. (Wondering if I need an Autel DPF Reset tool).
Thanks

Re: DPF Eolys Reset
You really need Diagbox, as you may have varying success with aftermarket diagnostic tools, which I can't help you with. Even then there may be issues preventing resetting the additive counter. Each vehicle can have differing problems with this.

Re: DPF Eolys Reset
I've got an old vehicle so I get warnings all the time that it needs topping up which I have done. It can only be reset with the electronic diagnostic system. I would be very careful on newer vehicles like yours as some cars will shut down if it's not reset properly. As yours is showing so low I would suggest a dealer deal with it and reset. Then look at how to do it yourself afterwards

Yes I ask the stupid questions, because normally it is that simple.

Re: DPF Eolys Reset
For clarification, this won't shut down for an Eolys additive issue Ryan, nor prevent starting.
That is only an issue for the Selective Catalytic Reduction system if fitted that uses Adblue, as it's a European directive that forces manufacturers to implement. That's why SCR vehicles have an Adblue warning about restarting prohibited if the counter reaches zero without topping up the Urea.

Re: DPF Eolys Reset
Thanks for the info Marc, I do worry about new vehicles as too many electronics are involved for my liking

Re: DPF Eolys Reset
Hi,
Just a follow up on my experience with Eolys issue (DS5 Blue 1.6HDi).
Got a service warning light after a fuel fill up a few weeks ago. Pinged on every start up thereafter.
My first thoughts were that the Eolys counter had not been properly reset by garage when I had the Eolys topped up 10 months ago.
Tried working on it with my Autel MK808, but it does not have a full service option for this. It did however say it could not communicate with the Diesel Additive Tank pump.
Fault codes:
BSI - B1811 96 Fault in diesel fuel additive pump
Engine ECU - P1434 96 Multiplexed additive pump Fault in mulitplexed pump Permanent
P1435 00 Multiplexed additive Pump CAN fault or multiplexed additive pump fault Permanent
P242F 00 Particle Filter detected worn Permanent
Diesel Fuel additive pump ECU - FEB0 Additive tank empty (bottom limit)
(scary messages)
Yet, live data showed contradictory info:
Diesel Fuel additive ECU
additive pump status - active
current quantity of additive in tank - 3%
Engine ECU Live data - exhaust line info 1
additive amount in tank - 1077ml (over 90%)
In reality, it turns out the Eolys fluid additive tank was still nearly full of Eolys fluid.
So, took it to an Auto Electrics guy to rule out a faulty pump or faulty wiring. He tells me there is no communication with pump so it is faulty and will need replacing. I was not convinced. Took car to another well recommended Auto Electrics guy. He rings me up to say there is no communication, the pump is faulty. I buy a new tank and pump (not from Citroen Parts) and pass it to him. He tells me it is faulty too, no communication going on. But wants to have another look the next day.
I finally get a call to say all done, new tank and pump NOT necessary. All that was necessary was a reset using a more sophisticated scanner.
We all live and learn. Hope some of the details will be of use to someone else who finds him/herself in a similar position.

Re: DPF Eolys Reset
That's correct - whoever did the 'reset' last time made a right pig's ear out of it and it evidently was not done. There's a lesson about going to places that don't have the proper equipment to do the job.
The additive level is only estimated, it is not physically measured, so the only way to know how much fluid is in the tank is to empty it and measure it. That's why it is so important to ensure that when it is topped up, that it is correctly reset, so the engine ECU can undertake the correct calculations and not put on warnings unnecessarily.
Glad you have it sorted.
