C5 X7 V6 2010 rear wheel leaning in at top

Unread post by migdsouza »

The rear wheel is leaning in at the top, on the passenger side. We are currently suspecting it may have had a prang, perhaps from being reversed into. Can anyone help shed light on what axle I need? Is the axle on this model unique? Does anyone have a a/h one???

To add another possibility, what might happen if the car was badly overloaded: say with 2t of ceramic tiles??? (Btw - not my doing!)

The rear suspension is a multi-link system - there isn't an axle as such, so apart from the rear crossmember torsion bar, anti roll bar and hub assembly, there are multiple links, arms, trailing arms and bushes etc.

It really needs a proper assessment before you even attempt to start sourcing parts to find out the issue to be honest.

Have a look at diagrams 'b' and 'c' from my post here to get an idea of what I'm talking about:

Marc,

Thanks, but it looks like these are for the conventional suspension? Do you have similar for the Hydractive+?

Same setup. I was going to mention it, but didn't want to confuse you. Ignore the first picture as that shows a conventional spring where you would have a strut and sphere, but otherwise identical.

The point is that as you can see there are multiple components to the rear suspension linkage excluding the hub etc. So I would have it professionally looked at either by an accident repair centre or Citroen to get a proper idea of the damage.

Thanks Marc,
I've started another post (not sure of the etiquette here - should I have done?) as it may be more economical to exchange the whole suspension / subframe.

If there's something wrong with the rear suspension I would suggest the simple option of taking photos of both rear sides and comparing them. It sounds simple because it is, that's what the garage will do visually to find the faulty part

Yes I ask the stupid questions, because normally it is that simple.
