Re: Picture(s) of the day....
I have hundreds of them Neil. An odd one popped up a few years ago, thought it was a weed but let it grow to see what happened, usually a mistake but turned out well in this instance, as with the foxglove.
I saved the seeds and sowed them and others on some unloved land out the back (a car park).
Plus other bits of 'dead land' This lazy photo from the back bedroom window only shows a small percentage of them.
They are 'Peony Poppies', which I only discovered three weeks ago.

The wife makes marmalade but it doesn't last long, the shop stuff tastes quite insipid in comparison.

In general I have to agree Peter, especially the stuff on the left which SWMBO favours, however I do find the Frank Cooper's on the right a very pleasant option!!
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!

£2:80 at Tesco.
They are all too sweet for me. Used to like Rose's Lime marmalade but it is just like a mouthful of sugar sweetened with honey now.

POTD number 2 28/06/2023
Bird of the day.
Britain's most successful bird
Could be there are loads of them. The genuine Wood Pigeon aka the Ring Dove, or even Cushat in some Northerly parts, not prone to congregate on roofs like its more urban cousin, but well-adapted to 2023 and thriving. Very much part of the food chain too, I would have thought if I had the Sparrowhawk, or Peregrine Falcon's attributes, Wood Pigeons must surely be the easiest substantial meal to catch. Nice plump target and relatively slow flying, but also for the lazier bird of prey, the woodpigeon is pretty kamikaze when failing to avoid cars on the roads regularly taking flight just too late.
