Re: Picture(s) of the day....
SWMBO is very pleased with her latest addition to the garden:
As I had to take the camera out there for that picture I thought a few shots around the garden would show how things are going in the various other parts of the garden in this heat:

Yes I ask the stupid questions, because normally it is that simple.

I am not sure, but it looks like an expansion steam engine.

In view of where it is I would suggest that is a monument to Plenty Marine Steam Engines of days gone by!!

I may be wrong but that looks like a Scarlet Tiger Moth to me!

Don't think I have seen one of those, certainly a moth and very pretty.

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
Today's Number plate noticer. Not often you come across an Isle of Man number plate so a bit of a novelty, and the Citroen...just makes a nice front view with the red lettering and a also reasonably infrequent spot on a Belgian plate.
The numbers are pretty insignificant. the Belgian system ties the vehicle to the person and the I.o.M ones, the MN ids the island and the other characters are neither area or age specific other than being issued in a series.
Of marginal interest the initial O on the Citroen is specifically attributable to "Old Timers", not the drivers but the cars, and I read AET as "After Extra Time", and associate the number 707 with the Boeing Jet Aeroplane.

So between Matt and your wife we have a good weather warning system. I do miss homemade blackcurrant jam on toast

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
The trivia Investigation thread "does what it says on the tin" once again...
This is no ordinary car...it's an "Old Timer" ( the reg no tells us that!)
but what is an "Old-Timer"
Chapter and Verse here...

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
Just a stimulus to remind all FCF'ers of our communal responsibility to retain the credibility of the Picture (s) of the Day thread aka POTD. Key word is "day". Any "blank" day without an entry on the thread is pure negligence.
Here's today's starter. Poppy Day.
Its a poppy, but not as we know it. Looks like its had a bit of manipulation in the genetics department. Maybe mated with a ball chrysanthemum. Very soon if not now, wild poppies will carpet the crop fields in their usual seasonal splendour, with some photo opportunities to be had for those who notice.
