I wrote about this on a (probably) identical problem in Jan 2019. This was on a C3 Picasso 1.2 110 engine from 2016.
Now I have a 2018 C4 Picasso II 1.2 Puretech 130. On hard acceleration the engine fault light comes on, changing to 'SERVICE'.
SERVICE does not reappear on dash next time engine is switched on ...... until you accelerate briskly again.
I'm fairly sure this has been covered here a lot, because the fault and various suggestions are all over the internet.
What is the concensus opinion as to the fault and what to do?

You'll need to get it scanned to see what the fault it is picking up is. It's odd that the light does not come at subsequent start, usually it stays on for 5 starts, even if the fault clears.

Thanks Richard ... I have an OBD reader, I'll check the record.
I have seen criticism about this engine regarding wear of the cambelt and
possible blockage of the oil strainer. Is this seen as a problem or are what I've seen
online just isolated incidents? I've never (in 2.5 years, 10 000 miles). Mileage now
on this Oct 2018 car is 31 000 miles.

It's definitely an issue, need to make sure you use the right oil, and keep an eye on the condition of the belt.

I just scanned the OBD, Richard and it says no faults found.
I might sell the car and the last thing I would want would be for the new owner
to come back when he saw this warning. The alternative is to take it to main dealer
and part-ex it in, I guess.

Re: C4 1.2 Puretech 130 engine service light on accelerating
To update: the cambelt looks perfect.
I filled with 98 fuel and didn't get the engine warning again for 250miles, but then it did happen. In temper I floored it and the orange warning went RED and said STOP car. Also SERVICE lit up. I turned off, waited 2 mins, turned on again. No SERVICE light, car perfectly normal. But it is becoming more easy to provoke the warning (eg even gentle accn., if uphill).
Engine oil level is a little bit under full, but the oil looks pretty knacky. Dunno for certain when last changed, but I have driven it only 10500miles, nearly all short journies. Main dealer supplied in Aug2021 at 22000miles.
Maybe a long run might clear this?

No, I doubt that very much, there is an issue that needs addressing - but I suspect your OBD fault code reader will be unable to read all the faults on a vehicle like this, especially the constructor codes - but if you have any codes put them up with the VIN (that I asked for on your other post concerning the tailgate).

Marc, I got 'no faults' on my OBD reader. I'll take the car to garage and find out what's wrong. I'll post the result............

Also refer to the info in my response to your other post regarding outstanding after-sales campaign!

Re: C4 1.2 Puretech 130 engine service light on accelerating
I have found that "normally" if a MIL comes on under acceleration, it means air/vacuum leak or O2 sensor picking up oxygen in the gasses which basically means a fuel/air mix issue. So I suspect that yours doing it under acceleration, the system is picking up on a mix ratio issue.
However, I believe these wet belt engines are a bit of a disaster, with a 3rd generation revised belt being fitted when the car is into Peugeot/Citroen for work.
Who even though that a rubber belt going through an oil bath would be a good idea

Has anyone seen the plot?

Hi both. I can see part of the belt and it is bone dry and in perfect nick. I have read that the oildip occurs on this engine up to and including some of 2017. My car is Sept/Oct 2018, so I'm safe in that respect.

Re: C4 1.2 Puretech 130 engine service light on accelerating
Delphi OBD check today here in Dordogne ...... €43.
Historic codes P1032, P1033, P1034 all seem pretty innocuous, they refer to lights.
But P15A1 and P15A8 are there; they relate to oil pressure (sender?), one of the explanations also mentions when gearbox set to manual.
I do that quite a bit because the car wants to change up when I don't want it to ................
I was also told by this garage (independent) to take it to main dealer because there is a recall...............have made a rendezvous.

Re: C4 1.2 Puretech 130 engine service light on accelerating
Marc, I had seen your post and that's why I had a check. I didn't expect the garage this afternoon would also tell me of the recall, but they did.
It wasn't that I hadn't taken your comment, but the main Citroen dealer closest to me is 30km away. But I now have a rdv with them.
Reading french forums has revealed horror stories (e.g. €3200 to fit new oil pump) so I am very pleased that info gained on frenchcarforums has
given me some ammo for the confrontation I expect to get.

They should be able to tell you what it involves on the phone, but do let us know, but I suspect it may be to do with the timing belt check at the least or replacement....
