Berlingo DPF Fault

Unread post by GF1969 »

Hi all.
Been a few years since I've been on here as I sold my French car a while back.
I have a relative heading my way from the South of France. He's due here tomorrow.
His car has thrown up a message saying there's a DPF issue and it will fail to start in 1000 miles. I dont know the exact details.
He's 80, driving on his own and doesn't do tech!.
He's tried to book the car in at the dealer near me , explained his problem but they won't look at it until July 15th! I can't find a local garage that will sort it out in short notice.
I still have my laptop with my copy of diag.
Can I plug it in and clear it or fool the car into thinking all is good enough for him to be able to get back to the South of France in a few days?
Thanks in advance for any advice available.
This forum was a great help to me a few years back when I had a 3008.
Cheers

That will be nothing at all to do with the DPF!

That's the Adblue Urea fluid reaching (or has reached) the minimum level. That is to do with the SCR system to treat the NOx. When the tank reaches the minimum amount it will start a countdown via a message on the dash every time the vehicle is started. If you ignore it, the system will not permit the vehicle to start once it reaches 0.

The Additive fluid (Eolys) is for the DPF system
Adblue (Urea) is for the Selective Catalytic Reduction system

Both are separate systems and do different jobs.

Adblue top-up is considered a customer job, much like topping up the screen wash bottle or putting diesel in.

No you can't reset it. He needs to up the Adblue (I suggest 10 litres) and follow the guidance in the handbook. After topping it up, wait for a good few minutes before starting the vehicle.
Please note, I'm no longer active on the Forum, so won't respond to messages.
