Boxer 2016 2.2 110

Unread post by John1966 »

I'm looking firstly for the oem number of the egr that would have been fitted to my van, and can anyone recommend a good quality manufacturer of an aftermarket egr valve for the boxer?
The saga of the premature regen continues and having replaced all the dpf components, the egr is next on the list to try.
It was previously replaced under warranty by the garage that sold it to me but going by my other experiences with them they most likely fitted a £5 unit from ebay.

Hi John - a couple of things - can you please put any official parts requests in the official parts thread - as I may miss any requests asked elsewhere, given the huge number of posts we get (viewtopic.php?t=69962). Second, I can't remember if I told you, but your Boxer is outstanding an after-sales campaign. You really should give Peugeot a call and they'll be able to tell you what the work involves - but it will be free of charge. This is important as if you are experiencing issues, there could be a software update or some remedial work that could impact on the vehicle's performance..... So I'd certainly get this sorted before you go replacing parts.

Back to your request:

Hi Marc
Thanks for the info, sorry about the wrong thread.
The recall on my van is for the side door contacts, and trying to book it in with a trustworthy dealer has proven almost to be impossible.
It's for the same reason that I'm trying every which way to get the van running correctly myself.
Firstly I live on one of the Scottish islands, so the costs involved in travel and time far outweigh the costs of buying a few parts
Secondly it's finding a main dealer that I am prepared to trust, having been totally ripped off by a dealer with questionable competence previously in Inverness, the nearest that I can find is in Perth, which even if they can book it in a few weeks time involves a trip of several days to get there and back!
At the moment I'm getting round it by fooling the van into thinking that I've replaced the DPF every 70 - 80 miles, not ideal on a long journey but it certainly stops it trying to continuously regen and improves the running and fuel economy.

Ok, got it.

Being a Ford engine, you have an entirely different DPF system on this vehicle - no additive tank, but a diesel atomiser system, so this is still going to regenerate as needed, but if the particle filter is clogged due to age / ash content, then there will be performance issues when regeneration has little effect.

DPF was professionally cleaned, with no issues, EGT sensors have been replaced, fifth injector has been replaced, forced regen claims no fault, if I hadn't started to convert it, it would have gone back to the dealer that sold it, but unfortunately because I'd started work, I've ended up stuck with it. The temptation to go for a long drive on a short pier is increasing daily!!
