Waxoil still seems to be OK but Hammarite has gone badly down hill, probably contained some 'harmful' ingredient which was what made so good.

I believe a lot of stuff has 'suffered' in that way Peter :(

Funny how those supposedly harmful things never seemed to harm our generation... Maybe we were just wise enough not to eat them or do stupid things with it. It staggers me these days just how stupid people must be going on the warnings on some things. Like warnings that cups of coffee and take-away pizzas may be hot...

Araldite does not seem nearly as good these days...

I don't know if it's an urban legend but one car handbook these days allegedly warms against drinking the contents of the battery... I expect it's just a Facebook thing but then again, it wouldn't surprise me...

Tangentially, yesterday was Global Wellness Day :) Who knew?

I just hope nobody yesterday became unwell from drinking battery acid or scalded themselves on an unexpectedly hot cup of coffee!

Have a great day, and let's have a decent crop of thread-splattering shutter clicks across a panoply of threads.

Tartan travel rugs (or picnic mats!) and other nostalgic motoring accessories, a nice 2-tone, Wheel meet again, Interiors Interesting and Awful, Lights Interesting and Awful, of course a selection for I spy Classic cars, French cars what have you spotted, whatsthisthen?, nice places to stop off at, pickled egg quiz, open top motoring, favourite colours for cars, estates/station wagons/shooting brakes etc etc...

Today's POTD Can of the day, join in and make it a theme. POTD awaits an original photo of a tin of Hammerite or Waxoyl

Castrol GTX. You may be surprised at the composer of the music used, the avid FCF follower will know, as it did form one of my posers a while back.

Waxoyl is/was being used on the Halifax fuselage at RAF Henden as a preserver rather than a treatment. It was applied weekly

I'm about to post the link to my photos in the Car Shows area of the forum Neil. I took over 180 pictures... It encompasses everything ;)

With your consent Jim, I may dip into your gallery and fish out some personal choices and do a bit of thread splattering. That pale blue MGA deserves an outing on Open Top Motoring! :-D for a start. Added benefit too of directing viewers to your fine work in the comprehensive gallery you linked to on your blog.

Always has the benefit of bringing up the active topics list a range of threads which can easily lie dormant and fade away in spite of their collection of excellent content from many contributors over the years. A nice 2-tone recently revived by yours truly being a case, as well as Tartan travel rugs and other nostagic motoring accessories.

If they don't get the odd bump with new content no-one knows they are there.

Neil

PS *Trivia alert...I was rather pleased with yesterday's not very often used word of the day Panoply meaning a magnificent or impressive array. I find out that its original meaning was a full suit of armour, Knights in panoply were ready for battle!

You must have read my mind Neil ;) I was just about to PM you and say please feel free to do just that! I can see many topics that might include a few from my gallery..

They turned out a lot better than I thought as most were taken 'blind' due to the high light levels making my phone screen practically invisible...

Thanks Jim, I may drip feed them in Jim over a period of time rather than a big splurge all at once! Certainly as you say plenty of subject matter there appropriate to many threads. On tour most of this week but I'll kick off today with the MGA. Always loved the lines of that car but the MGA has always been in that bracket of price range, above the more accessible MGB's MGB GT, and Spitfires and GT6's of the everyman sports cars.

Not exactly the finest of environments for these beautiful flowers, old colliery spoil being reclaimed by nature behind the beach at Lynemouth Northumberland.

Dropped my daughter off in Gateshead and instead of driving back on the very busy dual carriageway (A184) took an 'alternative route' where I came upon this Castly Thing© that I had never spotted previously.

Wandered past it and found a ditch full of water and stuff

Must investigate that, or get my archeologist grandson to look into it.
Five miles from home and like another country, nice walk through the woods.
