Hello
I have a 2009 C5 Estate (new shape) and it is getting very used to the inside of the garage we go to. Thankfully, we have a brilliant mechanic of the old school but this has stumped him. Having replaced most bushes and ball joints of the front suspension, there is a shudder under braking in the wheels (axle?) just before coming to a standstill and a thumping noise. It sounds like dududd in rhythm with the stuttering wheels.
We know that the spheres are on their way out and were actually going to have them replaced but then noticed the shudder/stutter. And the two or three people we have asked do not think that the shuddering has anything to do with the spheres.
Any suggestions? Every piece of wisdom will be gratefully received.
Many thanks

Had to replace these om mine, same symptoms, you can see the wheel moving backwards / forwards at walking speeds and dabbing the brakes on

Dear Steve
Thank you ever so much for your reply. The symptoms you describe match mine exactly (well, not mine, the car’s – mine are a lot worse, I’d only be good for spares or repairs). I’ll pass that on.
Best wishes
Peter
