Re: Picture(s) of the day....
I was down in Stickyfinger's parish yesterday....
I went for a very pleasant hike around the top of the Torr Works limestone quarry and was staggered at the size of it!
All around it, and maintained by the quarry, there are some truly beautiful places to enjoy the beauty of the area... The quarry itself may be a scar on the landscape but it's well hidden and plans are in hand to properly restore the area when it becomes exhausted - possibly 30 years hence...
This, in a way is the birthplace of Milton Keynes... The quarry is rail-connected and back in the 70s and 80s a regular daily flow of stone trains ran between this quarry and the New City to provide much of the raw material to build it... There's a locality of Milton Keynes now named Stonebridge Park where the sidings once were.. It's now a big road/rail freight terminal...

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
Had a walk through the woods at the back of the college my daughter was at last night.
Saw the goats at long last.
They knocked the wooden bench down and jumped all over it, terrible racket.
And the wabbits, on the way into the woods. Thousands of them, should have take the tele lens. Most of them seem to be only a few weeks old.
Bluebells in profusion but a pale shadow of what they were last week.
Hosses too.
Sheeps too.
Charging points for the sheep when their batteries run down. It was quite gloomy and a lot of the pictures were unusable due to camera shake, exposures of at least a half-second, most longer.
Lots of wildlife, all too quick for me. Had a chat with one of the property managers who said that poaching was a huge problem for them.

If someone's poaching those sheep they must have a very large saucepan!

He said that it was more the wildlife that they were after. They find lots of shot foxes too.

So close to a major city too - but that is where the poachers come from.

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
The bloke on the left cam hurtling down the road on a monowheel thingy, bit hard to see here. Tried to get a photo as he wen in to the factory but he was too fast and too much junk in the way. I had stopped to ask if they knew someone who works there, or worked there when he left where I worked but they didn't know him.
It is a factory my daughter often call in to for the stuff they make.
I spotted this on the ground as I continued.

You could just superimpose my ginger hair rather than have a mazda sitting there in the photo

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
I could use pictures of my wicked red C5 but that wouldn't be true to our meeting so I'll stick with this and here's my final draft!!
Hopefully I won't be charged with an infringement of copyright!!
