I use Loctite 542 as my thread sealer, I've was introduced to it on oil rigs, and have had great results with it, so I trust it as a product.

They would do for joining two flared pipes to each other, I've used something similar where I spliced steal to cuni halfway along the floor pan.

Okay, I'm thinking about using one into the hydraulic pump sealed with Loctite and splicing in a piece of Cuni pipe as I have a kink which maybe restricting the flow plus a very slow weep from the pump.

Re: C5 (X7) mini project including custom made cunifer suspension pipes
They're different pitches of threads in the port vs the flare nuts, and I really wouldn't want to be sticking cadmium coated mild steel of questionable origin into an aluminium pump in a high pressure system, and TBH I'm contemplating getting the fancy nipples machined up, but I'll PM you a price for a couple of pre-production simple nipples and the new internally coned nuts I'm using with them.
The tapered internal tapered shoulder is highlighted green in these pictures:

The internal tapered shoulder matches the angle of the nose of the nipples, so will nicely clamp the pipe flare onto the cone on the nipple rather than pinching down on a point of the back of the flare around the circumference of the borehole like conventional nuts do.

Jay
FYI I have 2 spare hydraulic pumps one of which is non operational. I was thinking about opening the pump to look at the ports. if you would like any details I would try to obtain some measurements.

Re: C5 (X7) mini project including custom made cunifer suspension pipes
Jay, are you considering selling the nipples separately from a kit?
I read of your intention to approach Plaedies, etc. and from previous experience of dealing with them, you can buy a roll of pipe, unions, etc or a pre made up pipe.
I have a drawer on the toolbox full of unions for normal brake pipes, 3.5mm, 4.5mm and 6.25mm Citroen unions, etc. and all the relevant sizes of pipe, flaring tools, etc. I like the idea of having stock for when I need them
David.

Re: C5 (X7) mini project including custom made cunifer suspension pipes
Kenny, been thinking about your offer, what I might do is fire you down a couple of nipples to test in one of your spare pumps, and if they work and you want to use them for your forward pipe, consider them your beta-testing bounty.
David, I can sell the nipples separately if you want to buy them "loose" because you already have the corresponding nuts, just mind what I've said a couple of posts ago about the nuts I'm selling with these having the internal tapered shoulder on them whereas the majority of female brake pipe nuts have a flat internal shoulder.

Re: C5 (X7) mini project including custom made cunifer suspension pipes
Jay,
Had a quick look at the pump today and found both front and rear pipes had been snipped off with a good length of pipe so I have cut the rear to length and flared the end to fit a 2 way connector. So I can remove the connector in the pump and fit the original Citroen end.
Thanks for the kind offer but I feel with the proper Citroen flare I have no need for them. I will take a Pic and post it once my phone is charged.
If you want my non work pump to help let me know.
Kenny.

Graeme did something similar for the rear firmness regulator to aluminium union, so it should work.

Re: C5 (X7) mini project including custom made cunifer suspension pipes
Are the flares for your nipples made using your Sykes tool? What size of pipe did you settle on in the end?
I’d be quite happy to buy enough nipples to do 2 cars
David.

Re: C5 (X7) mini project including custom made cunifer suspension pipes
I'm using double flare on conventional 3/16" sized thick walled cuni. 3 out of the four flares on my car were done with the sykes pickavant tool, one was made on vehicle using the AB Tools on vehicle tool. Let me know if you need a link for the AB tools one.

Would hope that would do the trick

SNAP! I've got one of those too - and that's the very one I was referring to.
