I've been playing a lot with AI recently, both ChatGPT and Bing Image Creator.

AI image creation is a very strange beast - it's trained on millions of images along with alt text / description, and attempts to learn by inference what attributes of an image match what descriptions, and from that break the image down into conceptual components that it can then reassemble and interpolate when asked to create a picture of something that doesn't exist.... or something that does exist, in this case!

I asked it to create images of a "Citroen DS", and despite almost certainly having trained on many such images and having some rough idea of what a DS looks like it took a lot of interesting creative liberties, particularly with the snout and the Citroen logo, which often became a triangle!! Here are just a few of its creations...

Alternate reality anyone ?

I tried a few other models - the 2CV it did reasonably well on, the Xanita it doesn't seem to know at all as it just produced generic looking hatchbacks similar to a Peugeot 205...
