POTD Post number 9992 and fitting for Peter's mention here
viewtopic.php?p=751573#p751573

A picture and a dig up from POTD's greatest hits. I would encourage you to have a little listen to Robert Louis Stevenson's lullaby-esque poem. The Stevenson family were great engineers and became tagged as "The Lighthouse Stevensons", Robert chose a different path and his writing words and stories probably made him the most famous Stevenson of them all. Chris following a spate of lighthouse pictures offered this up to POTD, one of the gems of the thread.
c.morewood wrote: 04 Oct 2016, 15:56 He also wrote some lovely poetry.. I remember learning Leerie the lamplighter when I was young.

The Lamplighter Poem (by Robert Louis Stevenson)

My tea is nearly ready and the sun has left the sky;
It’s time to take the window to see Leerie going by;
For every night at teatime and before you take your seat,
With lantern and with ladder he comes posting up the street.

Now Tom would be a driver and Maria go to sea,
And my papa’s a banker and as rich as he can be;
But I, when I am stronger and can choose what I’m to do,
Oh Leerie, I’ll go round at night and light the lamps with you!

For we are very lucky, with a lamp before the door,
And Leerie stops to light it as he lights so many more;
And O! before you hurry by with ladder and with light,
O Leerie, see a little child and nod to him tonight!

And a very nice version put to music

If you're interested in lighthouses then a visit to the Fraserburgh lighthouse museum should be right up your street. really interesting. I can recommend it.

That may not have been an error Gibbo, Forsythia does come in a white variety as this picture from the Rotary Botanical Gardens shows:

It looks like one of the white Spiraea, sometimes known as Bridal Wreath.

Not much sign of a 'concrete jungle' anywhere :D Proof you can run a marathon in MK in bucolic countryside even though you're well within city limits... Linear Parks are wonderful things...

As I have a sneaky feeling that the North Eastern branch has a post ready and waiting to move us into 5 figures I thought I'd set it up by making the last 4 figure one!

I have been going through some old photos to clear some disk space and I came across this one of my daughter which I took the year before I joined the forum. She had moved to Germany to escape post Brexit Britain and was so chuffed when her husband bought her her fairy tale bicycle with a basket as she had always wanted! When I heard about it I sent her the perfect load for the basket as her birthday present and she sent me this photo in return: :-D

So as some sort of a mark of passing the 10000 I have brought in the random number generator to pick a page from the thread:
Generated number
Generated number
As you can see the page number is 591, however because I list my posts so that the most recent is always top of page 1 to get the true number I have to type in 667-591 = 76 to the page finder which has 15 posts 1 at the bottom on my listing and 15 at the top. Another number needed:
Generated number

So that takes me, slightly embarassingly, to one of my own posts :-D

Purple things

Recognise the second one but haven't a name for them, Fritillaria springs to mind but who knows.*

Went for a forced walk, to get my car, which was missing so an even longer forced walk.

A lot of fur in the park beside the path, something has met an untimely end there. There are wabbits sqrls, hedgehogs, which may be the source of the fur, possibly foxes, definitely raptors and I did hear a woodpecker pecking wood, quite unusual.

Was going to go shopping as the car is going to Scotland tomorrow. It not being there has saved me the bother of that.

* Google confirms.
