Peugeot Boxer 3 2.2 HDI BIG starting issues

Unread post by NoLuckOnBoxer »

Hello everyone!
I got a Boxer 3 2007.
It's cranking very good but it is'nt starting without help with a little spray in nose, after that its idling very very good, no problems.
On diagbox I have no errors, the parameters look just like other 2 Boxers that I plugged.
Fuel pressure regulator changed 2 times, new HP pump, new fuel filter, new tank pump(working), battery 13.2v, new starter, fuzes checked all, all seems to be very ok.

Can anybody tell me if after cranking, should be still pressure on rail? I got 240 bar cranking and after stop it goes down like in 15 seconds slowly drop to 0-3 bar. (that i think is wrong)

Best to pop your VIN up so we can see exactly which engine you have (please post your VIN in full without spaces - it will be automatically masked from public view after submitting your post & will only be visible to staff).

Having had a look I can't see anything that tells me the specific pressures pre and post cranking for this engine.

Only thing i got on diagbox is some egr errors, i had them before and i blanked egr before it with a sheet of metal. Does that affect the car from starting? Its hard to reach egr to remove it now, but i ll do that if u heard problems like that.
Many thanks!

Yes and we don't condone that here on the Forum as it's illegal to do (disabling emissions systems) so if you've done this of course you'll get problems. I suggest you un-blank it and fix the route cause.

Thanks for letting us know.

I know this is an old post but any chance you can explain abit further?

If the crank sensor is bolted to a bracket can it not sit in just one position?

How did you adjust was is simply undoing from bracket and pushing in further? Or rotating?

I'm in the same position 2.2hdi 2015 and now have crank but no fire over and start.

Only code I have is an air temperature sensor fault and P0016-62 cam/crank sync. Diagbox list of associated variables says it's a communication error....

Correct, there is no adjustment on it so if it is sitting too high then either there is physical damage to it or corrosion build up under the mounting possibly causing it to not mate correctly.

What is your situation? Did it cut out whilst driving or just wouldnt start one day?
Can you see engine RPM on live data? Have you confirmed the timing belt is not broken or timing jumped?
Will it fire with a burst of easy start?

Thanks wheeler

I have a post here

viewtopic.php?t=89015&e=1&view=unread#unread

I've just been trying to figure out exactly what's what.

Have acquired it as a non start.

Engine was swapped by a main dealer and timing chain has been replaced for new before I set my hands on it.

I've progressed to getting a crank but no start at the moment.

The timing guide from auto data was left on the van dash so assuming that's been followed the new chain should have been installed correctly.

I have had it start with a sniff of easy start but reluctant to do this any more just incase it causes further problems.

ECU is unlocking and no immobiliser faults.

I am about to purchase a new cam and crank sensor.

Only error I'm getting is p0016-62 diagbox variable info says no communication.

I'm leaning more towards crank sensor not getting a reading but have yet to test these wires or it's fitment.

I have however read a number of posts now that have concluded with adjusting the sensor allowed a start situation.
