Sometimes by the time we have chosen a venue it is too late to get there, so we end up with more jumpers and a takeaway!!

Re: First day thread
As it is the first day of April which signals me turning off the house heating, it means if it gets chilly in the evenings we will decamp to one of our favoured venues for dinner. The problem with living in Hertford and not liking the pubs in the town is that we always have to pick one from this list:

Re: First day thread
That the trouble with applying thought to the process. Assign the pubs on your list a number, and go to random,org and let the random hand decide.mickthemaverick wrote: 01 Apr 2023, 16:46 As it is the first day of April which signals me turning off the house heating, it means if it gets chilly in the evenings we will decamp to one of our favoured venues for dinner. I will have to defer my contributions until late tomorrow. I've only just completed my parkun duties for today... My brain is now mush!

As winter approaches and flowers fade, this is the time of year when the ivy provides flowers, which are a magnet for bees and wasps, you will notice them they can gather in large numbers.

Calendar turning day...
I would think it unlikely that many members of the FCF will have occasion to visit Seaham a town on the County Durham Coast about 7 miles down from Sunderland. There's a statue known affectionately as "Tommy" created by Ray Lonsdale. The official name of the statue is/was 1101 to represent the first minute after the armistice went into effect at 11am on November 11, 1918.

On December 1st 2021 we had a bit of poetryNewcastleFalcon wrote: 01 Dec 2021, 17:45 Second Verse please John to accompany a few December 1st 2021 original images
I must go down to the seas again, for the call of the running tide
Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied;
And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying,
And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea-gulls crying.

Cat pawprints, not vert exciting, but they start from nowhere and end nowhere, just a four or five foot trail.

This is a cheery little bird which brought a little bit of First day entertainment with its hopping progression across the steppy stones to stone number 9 via 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, and 8.
