I own a 1992 1.9 Mi16 (non-cat)
I could right a book on the troubles I've had with this car!!! Mind you things weren't helped much by a Peugeot dealer - they didn't tension a new cambelt properly!!
I'm suffering all the usual Peugeot problems:
-Irratic idle
-Pinking
-Stalling
-dodgy sensors left right and centre!!
-interior falling to bits
-leaking boot
Sure, when the car is working it goes like hell, on a straight it'll burn out a 205 1.9 Gti...
After Peugeot finally correctly tensioned my timing belt the car ran very smooth for a few weeks, but now i'm back to square one.
Any pearls of knowledge would be appreciated.<font size=4></font id=size4>

Usually about 1000 - 1300 rpm so maybe I'm worrying about nothing.
The lack of torque at low revs in the Mi16 is bl**dy infuriating! Cars with sod-all power can keep up with me and then it's not until I hit about 5000 rpm that I really take off.
Before this Mi16 I had a 1.6 405......get this - Carburettor!! And I have to say it was very strong at low speeds for a 1.6. It easily beat 1.6 Cavaliers and Sierras and the insurance was less too. But that's another story.
So how's the overall performance of your car?
Many places quote the 1.6 & 1.9 205 Gti as having the same top speed, which doesn't seem right.

Don't Really know......... 0-60 never really tried.
Top Speed, well i've had 117mph(and ran out of road) 1.6 aren't really that quick top end(book quotes 121mnph), quick of the mark tho, mine would keep up with all of the 1.9's i've test driven, however once you get past about 60/65mph, the 1.9 says bye!!!!!
And from memory my brothers 1.9 did alot more than 117mph
And i've had another look at my idling maybe 950 - 1100 when cold, have you had your car put on a pug "rollin road", mine was eratic till it went on one!!!
As for overall performance its just a car, however its 1.6 that should of been born a 1.9, check this (Suppposedly very rare......!!)

Power Assisted Steering(PAS)
ABS - which includes disk brakes all round 1.6's should have drums on the back!!
Anti theft spare wheel device! (Not much use as there is only a standard 1.6 alloy in there!!!!
And its was owned by two old ladies before me, brought it with 53K on the clock.... just done 70K now (Not bad for H 1991)
But recently i acquired a set of 206 GTI alloys... very sweet, not many 205's with 206 alloys and it looks the business!!!

Sounds like you have one of the better examples. There's so many ropey hot hatches out there that have been thrashed too much and not had the maintenance to match.
Getting the Mi16 on the rollin road is something I haven't done yet but hopefully will do soon as I recently joined the local Peugeot sport club group in my area and they attend rollin road sessions.
If they interior and bodywork on my car wasn't so good I'd definatley consider putting the engine into a 205, that'd shift!
