Britishvolt bought by Australian firm Recharge Industries
Beeb.Britishvolt had planned to build a £4bn battery plant near the Port of Blyth in Northumberland but it collapsed last month after running out of money.
Its downfall was blamed on a lack of battery experience, proven technology, customers and revenue.
Recharge Industries has in many ways a similar profile - it is a start up with little manufacturing experience.
The Australian company is ultimately owned and run by a New York-based investment fund called Scale Facilitation.
"What we are bringing is validated technology," the fund's Australian chief executive David Collard told the BBC.
"The US defence industry has validated it and it is already supplied to the UK navy through a subcontractor."

Computer used to heat water in swimming pool
Beeb.
Beeb.
The heat generated by a washing-machine-sized data centre is being used to heat a Devon public swimming pool.
The computers inside the white box are surrounded by oil to capture the heat - enough to heat the pool to about 30C 60% of the time, saving Exmouth Leisure Centre thousands of pounds.

Garden your electricity:-
Scientists are harnessing the microorganisms in soil to generate electricity that could one day help decontaminate polluted landscapes.
A team at the University of Bath has already used the clean technology to help remote communities in Brazil purify their water supply.
They are soon to launch a start-up to bring soil microbial fuel cells (SMFCs) to a commercial market.
The researchers hope SMFCs can help the world end its reliance on fossil fuels.
Mirella Di Lorenzo, a professor of biochemical engineering, explained how microorganisms generate electrons as they break down organic matter in soil.

I did that in the shop back when the nationalised boards were running things, the MEB quickly sent out a team to investigate if I was fiddling the meter.

All a bit haphazard. Some days I use next to nothing (1kWh is the minimum), other days lots.

Scientists Successfully Transmit Space-Based Solar Power to Earth for the First Time
The California Institute of Technology has big news for space-based power. Researchers at the university have reportedly beamed solar power from space to Earth without a single wire—and they say it’s a first.
The experiment is a part of Caltech’s Space Solar Power Project, and the institute announced a successful transmission via press release yesterday. The researchers conducted the power transfer experiment using the Microwave Array for Power-transfer Low-orbit Experiment, or MAPLE, which is a small prototype aboard the in-orbit Space Solar Power Demonstrator (SSPD-1) that launched this past January.

Microwaves, eh? Bad news for any birds that fly through the beam's path.
