2007 C4 Grand Picasso Petrol Manual Non start/crank

Unread post by DDash »

Hi all,
I have the pleasure of investigating an intermittent non crank situation on a 2007 C4 Grand Picasso, manual with petrol engine (1.8?).
After being driven for around 1/2 hour and parked it will sometimes not restart. Ignition comes on but will not crank.
Apparently it has had a new starter motor. I have tested the battery and it is good. I have cleaned the battery terminals, fuse terminals, checked for corrosion in connectors etc.
I would really appreciate a wiring diagram that I can follow for the starter circuit if anyone know where I can find one?

Hi guys,
I am looking for wiring diagrams for a 2007 C4 Grand Picasso - Petrol Manual.
Especially the starter circuit.
If anyone has one or knows where I can find one I would really appreciate it.
Thanks

After looking into this fault I have found that I can recreate it fairly regularly.
If I run the engine at idle for 15 minutes and turn it off, sometimes it will not restart.
Ign comes on but engine will not crank.
I have followed the Green wire from the starter motor solenoid back to the engine bay fusebox.
When the non-crank situation is happening there is no 12v feed OUT from the engine bay fusebox to the starter solenoid.
I really need to see a wiring diagram to know which feeds/signals INTO the fusebox that I need to check...

Hi, and :welc: to the Forum. I personally cannot help, but if you were to post up the VIN here the Forum staff can then look it up on the PSA database, and get you the correct information. It is safe to post up the VIN, as the Forum security software will obscure it so that only Forum staff can read it (I am NOT Forum staff) like this; VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]

You may be asked to pay a donation (typically £10). This is because the Forum is charged for access to the PSA databases. It is of better value than that you would get if you went directly to PSA, as they will charge you for a fixed amount of time (and the clock does not stop when you log out!), but the donation will cover you for up to 2 years of search requests (so, from this date, to 23:59 on 31/12/2024). If you are asked, the Forum staff will clearly explain why this is requested.

Its a very simple circuit, 1010 is the starter, CA00 is the ignition switch. Never heard of an ignition switch fail on a full CAN car. Most likely culprit is the under bonnet fusebox which houses the integral relay.
Just confirm pin 9 of the 28 way grey connector of the fuse box is getting the crank signal when the fault is occurring.

Thanks Wheeler!
If that is the correct diagram for this car then that should be all I need...
Yes I also suspect the engine bay fusebox is the fault, I just want to prove it by checking the inputs are all there.
I will get back on it ASAP and update on what I find.
Has anyone opened up one of these fuseboxes and attempted to repair it?

Ok, I have used the wiring diagram and confirmed that when the engine fails to crank, the engine bay fusebox is receiving the crank signal but not outputting anything to the starter solenoid.
New fusebox required and programming by a Citroen dealer I think?
Thanks to those that replied and especially for the wiring diagram.

No requirement to code the underbonnet fuse box. If you go 2nd hand, go off the number stencilled on it, as the actual Cit part number does not appear on the box anywhere!! In fact post up the number, I've got a couple here which I think are OK, and might be suitable...

Thanks for your reply RichardW, good to know it is a plug and play unit.
The number on this one is 9661708080.
I took a photo while I had it out...

You will if it has a later AEE2010 architecture (which I think were mostly toward the later end of the production), which is stated in replacement procedures Richard. You may not though - I can't tell you specifically. I know the later B78 Picasso certainly has this new architecture, but it still states this in the configuration guide of replacement fuse box for the original C4 Picasso.
Operations to be performed following a replacement of the engine fusebox (Multiplexed structure AEE2010):
Perform an automatic configuration of the engine fusebox (1) Using the diagnostic tool connected to the Internet.
Check all the equipment works.
