Injectors misbehaving but trying to understand the numbers
Hi Lads I ran a diagnostic on the car because she smells fuelly, yes it's the C5 that has all the problems but I bought it thinking it had an injector problem. Can anyone tell me what the us stands for. To me none of the injectors look right numbers wise but I am hopeful if being corrected. No fault codes apart from the glow plug fault but we know that is a ghost code

Re: Injectors misbehaving but trying to understand the numbers
I ran it on Delphi and diagbox, Injector 3 stays at 143.14 Ms in diagbox and the others jump around quite a bit so it's trying to correct for injector 3 so I have to try and pull it out. I have a spare but 3 is welded in.
has anyone any tips on pulling these when they are badly stuck
.I think it's just stuck open.i have a big slide hammer but it wouldn't budge. Does anyone have a known good list of values for a 138bhp Delphi injector C5 at idle

I'm not sure on the numbers here either, if you select one of those 4 lines, is there some more information at the bottom? Think is normally a description of each line when you click on it.
Regardless of the units seems odd 3 are negative and 1 positive, so Injector 3 is behaving/ determined as different by the ECU

Engine nice and hot (assuming it'll run well enough to get it good and hot)darbuck wrote: 14 Mar 2023, 20:16 I ran it on Delphi and diagbox, Injector 3 stays at 143.14 Ms in diagbox and the others jump around quite a bit so it's trying to correct for injector 3 so I have to try and pull it out. Have read cellulose thinners melts the black gunk well too, cant confirm that as not tried it personally as yet

Yeah I redone a diagnostic it's definitely 3 it's stuck open now.

I'll warm it up as you suggest cellulose thinners on a hot engine wouldn't be a good idea could explain HDI engine fires
. I will have to pull the bonnet off to get a good swing at the slide hammer.

Yes, a very good point, I'll rephrase it - get it warm and see if that works, if not then give up when it's cooled down and then chuck the thinners on it. I guess it's the challenge of getting some down the guide tubes.darbuck wrote: 14 Mar 2023, 20:23 I'll warm it up as you suggest cellulose thinners on a hot engine wouldn't be a good idea could explain HDI engine fires.
Could end up like brandy with a Christmas cake = feed it a little, often

Oh mine gets fed a lot
. I suppose that makes sense maybe a bit of carb cleaner might do the same job.i don't have a bottle of thinners I do have a bottle of carb cleaner though.

Cheaper sources available if buying larger quantities, but just over four quid at Wilcos
https://www.wilko.com/en-uk/wilko-cellu ... /p/0182560
Halfords have it too, GSF etc too.
Carb cleaner evaporates very quickly (as does thinners too I suppose!) But would guess that both would likely work equally well

Thanks for that, Interesting tool Its a bit expensive for my needs. I'm going to pull the bonnet. Brute force and ignorance combined with pent up frustration and plenty of expletives and chemicals will remove it.

Is it the X7 C5?darbuck wrote: 15 Mar 2023, 19:57. I'm going to pull the bonnet. Brute force and ignorance combined with pent up frustration and plenty of expletives and chemicals will remove it.
Bear in mind the bonnet will continue up to completely vertical. I tied mine up like that when taking gearbox off for slave cylinder replacement. Bungy rope between bonnet catch hoop and the roof rail, jobs a good 'un

Yes the car that just keeps giving. I was afraid of the corners snagging and chipping, but yes sounds like a plan overthinking as usual.

I recommend an old pair of socks, or an old bath sponge as edge protection devices.darbuck wrote: 15 Mar 2023, 20:08 I was afraid of the corners snagging and chipping, but yes sounds like a plan overthinking as usual.
(I don't throw much away that might have a future use!

That'll work yeah likewise I have jackets from the early 90s that'll never fit me again but I refuse to accept it
