ASR/ESP system fault
This warning light keeps recurring despite Citroen resetting and then ‘remapping’ my car. What do I do? Desperate for some help

Re: ASR/ESP system fault
It needs a proper diagnostic. You can't expect any realistic help without providing the fault codes. There will be fault codes if the warning lamp is lit. Citroen don't remap vehicles - they are not allowed to. However, clearing the fault codes will do nothing, so long as the underlying fault is present. You need to address the cause of the fault.
When you have some proper diagnostic fault codes post them up here with your VIN and we may be able to give some guidance.

Re: ASR/ESP system fault
Well the Citroen agents here in South Africa supposedly did remapping. I have asked repeatedly what the underlying fault is without any clear response. One mechanic said he thinks it’s the gearbox, but won’t know for sure till it’s opened which is a huge expense that I don’t want unless I know for certain
Please explain the process to me
The warning light goes on and says ESP/ASR fault. Citroen is then meant to use the computer to see what the underlying fault code is. Then that code explains the problem. Is that correct?

Re: ASR/ESP system fault
Correct.
They use a diagnostic tool with Lexia / Diagbox software to read the fault codes. If you have paid for a diagnostic check they must provide a report and the fault codes.
There is a difference between 'remapping' and updating one or more ECUs on the vehicle. A remap relates to tuning, whereas a software update of the ECU are applied by Citroen to rectify known faults or issues where these are relevant to the vehicle and system in question.
Although Diagbox is preferred as it can read Citroen's bespoke constructor codes, a garage with a suitable professional level diagnostic tool should be able to do the same for you. But most garages will charge a nominal fee for a diagnostic check.
