The coolant level sensor has been playing up recently in my Citroen C3 (2004), beeping and red light flashing on the temp gauge. I have purchased a new sensor and tried to replace it in the expansion tank.
I removed the connector, turned the sensor to the left (so connector pin is facing down) and tried to pull it out. However, it does not want to budge.
Is there anything else I need to loosen of a clip I cannot see to loosen it and get the sensor out?

That's the coolant LEVEL sensor and nothing to do with the coolant temperature sensor.
Best to pop your VIN up first so we know what engine you have (please post your VIN in full without spaces - it will be automatically masked from public view after submitting your post & will only be visible to staff).

Oh yes I know and that is why I made sure I only mentioned the level sensor in my post as not to confuse.GiveMeABreak wrote: 02 Mar 2023, 15:30 That's the coolant LEVEL sensor and nothing to do with the coolant temperature sensor.
I was looking for videos to try and get some idea, but not much out there. I have looked at the cost of new tanks and they are not that expensive, in case I break it trying to get the stubborn sensor out. I have turned it 1/4 turn and I can feel that the one side feels like it wants to come out of the clip, but the other does not. I did try to wiggle/gently force it out but no movement. I will try again and see if it has come loose a bit.

But why are you changing that? If the warning is on the dash, then that's most likely the engine water temperature sensor that is usually on the engine, but without your VIN I can't help you.
