Citroen Relay 2008 indicator stalk operating erratically

HWMO is having more trouble with his Relay van - HDI 2.2l 100hp.

Indicate left and the left indicators flash
Indicate right and the right indicators flash.
Centralise arm and the right indicators flash.
So, basically, van is always indicating right unless the left indicator is selected.
Stirring the indicator switch around produces random results bu never indicators off.
Four way flashers work normally.
He has been unable to find the fuse or feel confident he has found the correct relay.
Suspecting switch failure, I've searched comprehensively online for a new (very expensive!) replacement switch. OE number Fiat 07354300930. Citroen part number 6242q2.
This OE number is not available from any online UK parts retailer that I can find. Coastal Motor Homes, who usually stock the original part, have been waiting some time for an order of new stock to be delivered. Price normally £218. Our local Citroen dealer says they can get the part - price £389!
Autodoc list equivalent parts but I don't feel confident to go down that route.
So, please can anyone suggest a fix other than replacing the steering column switch?
Divulge the location of the fuse?
Suggest a seller of a reasonably priced new original part? At the moment, we
would prefer to get a new part in case a second hand one presented the same issues. HWMO has not yet decided whether he will fit it himself or not.
As ever, you help would be much appreciated.

I just punched those numbers into ebay & there are quite a few new & used, many of the new ones are coming from abroad but still working out way cheaper than the dealer price.
It certainly sounds like a switch fault.
I wouldn't imagine it had anything at all to do with fuses as the indicators actually illuminate.

Thanks for the info. I had scoured ebay myself but only managed to find two new original parts that fit the vehicle - one in Lithuania and one in France.. i would be really grateful if you could give me a steer on the cheaper ones you can find. We have been advised that it should be replaced by one with the same OE number (07354300930) to ensure no compatibility issues but maybe that's not the case. That is a Fiat number. The Citroen 6242q2 part number seems to be associated with a number of OE numbers for that part but the expense is too great to risk trying one without the correct OE number..

With regard to the fuse, which the Citroen garage have so far failed to locate, he wants to pull the fuse so that he can drive the van in the meantime without the indicators flashing.
