Dispatch power steering fluid change

Unread post by Markbrock »

Hi. I’ve got lumpy steering when turning on my Dispatch 2.0 HDi 2013 and firstly need to change the power steering fluid. I’ve checked the fluid and it looks like treacle! I can’t find anything specific to changing the fluid on YouTube but have found videos that show generally how to do it. Remove fluid from tank and then refill with new. Suck out the old fluid whilst topping up the tank until it runs clear.
However I assumed there would be a flow and return pipe from the reservoir but can only see one out of the bottom. Anyone have any suggestions or done it before. Also can’t find the spec for the fluid. Is generic power steering fluid made for all cars etc suitable. I’ve checked the manuals but can’t find it.
Many thanks.

It's not normal PAS fluid, it can be specialised oil so you need to be sure. If it has turned to treacle, I suspect the wrong stuff has been put in already previously.

Best to pop your VIN up so we know what you have.

Sorry it’s not thick like treacle. Just very dark brown.

I think the stuff you need is TUTELLA GI/E, but I would recommend you confirm this with Citroen first as it may have been replaced now.
