Hi,
Just bought a second hand Citroen Dispatch (in Sweden I think the model is called Jumpy instead for Dispatch) with yearmake 2013. The van is fitted with an auxiliary heater. Part number should be 6462Y8 -- however I am unsure whether this is an Ebersprächer or Webasto. Does anyone knows how I can check this?
Second question: can this auxiliary heater be made to act as an engine pre-heater, ie: be started by a timer or remote to pre-heat the engine before driving?
On my old VW T5 this could be done with a small kit, either my google skills are not so good anymore or there exist no online howtos in English.
Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Citroen Dispatch 2013 remote start auxiliary heater?
All the factory fitted aux diesel fired heaters on UK spec Citroens i have only ever seen Webasto fitted, Never seen an Eberspacher (factory fitted) on a Citroen. Not something we see a lot of on UK versions. All the UK Diesel model C8's have Webastos fitted however they are not seperatley controlled, Never seen any models with a remote start or timer kit although some of the handbooks sometimes refer to them so i assume it is an option in some countries on some models.

Re: Citroen Dispatch 2013 remote start auxiliary heater?
Every search has come back saying that part number is a Webasto heater.
I am used to auxiliary heaters just heating the cabin so can someone explain the way they work in heating the engine.
Just trying to get my head around it as i know that the heaters i am familiar with can be set to start at various times and temperatures
Colin

They are plumbed into the coolant system & heat the coolant rather than blow hot air. Basically just a mini boiler. If you time it to pre heat it means you can have instant heat in the cabin when you switch the heaters on.

Thanks wheeler
So i assume you have to flick a switch to get it started or does it come on once the engine is running?
As it heats the coolant seems odd that you would not be able to use it say over night to keep the coolant from freezing along side getting the cabin temp higher as soon as the vehicle is started.
Just asking as never used a system like this, every day is a school day

You can have these things timed or remote operated. Its just in the UK we don’t normally see the factory fitted ones with all the extra timer options etc. The ones fitted to the C8 here for example the operation is completely automatic, it only fires up when the heaters are switched on & the coolant temperature is below a certain value. You can’t operate the diesel fired heater independently.

Back in the seventies I lived in Sweden and we had Eberspächer heaters in the cars and they would heat either the engine, the cabin or both, set on timers. They are more sophisticated now. There are some that you control with your mobile phone.

If remote start or timer kit is not fitted (dealer or harbour fitted option), it is only a support heater that starts when coolant temp is below 70C and outside temp is below +5C.
Nearest Webasto dealer should be able to supply kits (Possibly also Citroen dealer)
From OE/Factory all HDI PSA vehichles were fitted with Webasto heaters. The exeption is Xantia HDI, wehre i've seen ebersprächer too.
Here in a cold climate market all larger cars had a supporting heater as standard (eg C5/407/508 C8/807 Jumpy/Expert Jumper/Boxer)

I have various repair handbooks and wiring diagrams for C5 mk1, Xantia, XM, Berlingo and C3 mk1.
I have Lexia/Diagbox (Sweden) and Servicebox/sedre

Re: Citroen Dispatch 2013 remote start auxiliary heater?
Thanks for all the answers so far.
I have since last post found this documentation https://varmarcenter.se/produktfiler/20 ... -55209.pdf at least listing Citroen Jumpy as compatible.
Now my next question is whether cables from the heater are available somewhere in the cabin or if I need to get under the car or under the hood to install a cable to connect Telestart (or other equipment). Anyone who have any insights into this?
