Service light

Unread post by Tracybird »

Hi

My husbands car has the service light in saying engine fault. It’s been to the local garage and apparently they can’t find the ‘fault code’ in any manual/page. The exhaust fumes seem to be dragged into the car whilst idling so not sure if this may have something to do with it. Don’t have time to take to the dealership as it’s an hour drive away and want to get rid of the car as it’s been a problem since purchasing it.

Any ideas? The local garage was supposed to give us the code however he forgot to write it down 🙈. It’s got 77k on the clock.

Thanks

Without that code there's not a lot to go on. Did you pay for the car to be looked at? If so, and they truly have lost the error code, then you should ask them to hook their code reader up again so they can give you the code.

That warning just tells you there is something wrong with the engine management. It could be emissions related or something else, but we can't help you with this until you get it properly diagnosed by a garage with a Lexia / Diagbox or other professional level diagnostic kit that can read the engine ECU properly. If or once you have the codes, post them up here with your VIN.

Though I'm not sure how much help you'll get if you just want to get rid of it to be honest...

Citroen c4 p1a9c issue

Anyone know anything about this code? Think it may possibly be related to the start/stop? That’s what the local garage said. The mOT is due so need it fixing before 😭
