Re: Picture(s) of the day....
The systems over here in the sticks are either fuel fired or wood burners, The fuel fired systems are very similar to the above closed system, the wood burner's run an open loop, permanently connected to the cold water feed, pressure set, so when it evacuates due to heat or pressure (heat) via the 2 safety valves, it automatically refills. Both have expansion tanks fitted.

My neighbour's attic mounted (as is mine) gas combi has been venting from its overpressure/safety valve for around three weeks now and has created this impressive icicle all down the wall...

Indeed and the bricks our houses are built of turn almost white if they are wet for a prolonged period... This has already happened on another part of this house due to a long-standing guttering problem. Took them two years to resolve despite the problem being very obvious every time it rained!Dormouse wrote: 25 Jan 2023, 17:41

House exterior and garden are horribly neglected. The interior is absolutely immaculate...
Amuses me they throw black bin bags full of rubbish out of the front door almost on a daily basis and there they sit until bin day...
The vermin love it...
Against that, they are lovely friendly people and no trouble at all... They just have no idea their house is falling apart around them...
Unlike me. I KNOW my house is falling apart and needs attention urgently in several areas, heating system being just one..
All is in hand...

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
A little update on my neighbour's venting boiler... Had a good chat with him today and yes, he is up and down his loft ladder like a fiddler's elbow to keep thigs under control but the root cause appears to be the result of some plumbing changes made by the fitter who installed them a new bathroom three weeks ago. It involves the incorrect installation of a new shower...
Fitter is soon to return to resolve... Neighbour is worried about how his bricks are becoming badly saturated...

I'd be tempted to push a garden hose onto the outlet and guide it somewhere harmless.

That would be a good plan Steve... Would need a long ladder though...myglaren wrote: 27 Jan 2023, 18:11 I'd be tempted to push a garden hose onto the outlet and guide it somewhere harmless.

If none of the neighbours have one, snag a window cleaner.

Great fun today in Salcey Forest running the recce. lap of a 50K ultramarathon I'll be running in March
Lots of mud, lots of banter and lots of great socialising... It's what running is all about and was a perfect way to spend a Saturday morning...
There's something magical about splashing through muddy puddles, however old you are
The Race Director is examining this bit of the course very carefully

I do enjoy a bit of original and thoughtful graffiti carefully crafted on the back of a dirty trannie van

On my way back from a bike ride, I noticed the van graffiti has been somewhat augmented
And before anyone casts aspersions, I'm not responsible
I mean, would I do something so juvenile

Re: Picture(s) of the day....
Some time back I saw a new variation on the "I am the Stig" written in the dirt on the back of a van. It read "I am not the Stig; I am the Stigs' Mentor".
