Repeated Fuel pump Failure

Unread post by DyingDreams »

I replace the fuel pump about 6months ago and now it does seems to be working again, I turn the key and I don't hear a sound from the fuel pump as I usually do, but I'll be checking the voltage and to see if it's the fuel pump or something else when I get home after being towed  but if it is the fuel pump, I want to know what causes it to keep happening and what else needs to be replaced when replacing the fuel pump cause I only replaced the fuel pump before and nothing else

There's no intrinsic reason why a replacement might fail so soon.., And to my knowledge, there's nothing, except perhaps to ensure the tank is entirely free of any large debris that might foul the pump impeller, you need to do in addition when replacing it...

As said, large lumps of debris might wreck a pump but I'd have thought that would have produced other symptoms...

Was the replacement a genuine part or an after-market item? If the latter, it just may be of questionable quality...
