Proposed Changes to MOT Frequency - Government Survey Link
I've seen the subject of the proposals to move to two yearly MOTs "to ease the cost of living crisis" discussed - in often quite heated terms - in a few places recently. However this morning came across a link to the currently actually live consultation document (closing date is March 1st). So I figured that it was worth sharing this to get as many folks the opportunity to respond as possible.
Survey is over here.
Given how heated and political discussion around this topic can get I wouldn't fault the moderators if they wanted to lock this topic sooner than later, but I figured actually sharing the link itself was quite important.

Crikey I had to stop at 49% as it was doing my head in on some questions. I must admit I was getting quite
on some of these questions that were totally stupid or obvious to me.
I shall finish it off later or submit it when it becomes too stressful to carry on ...

^^^^^^^^
So you haven't got to the question yet where they ask you how many streaks on a windscreen do you think constitutes an MOT failure for sub-par wiper blades ?

Not to mention the succeeding one about the maximum permissable angle of diffraction from a windscreen chip outside the driver's field of view?bobins wrote: 22 Jan 2023, 21:17 ^^^^^^^^

I'm hoping to hear soon if I've passed or failed their online test. I thought I'd done quite well, but we'll see.

Blurryell, that took longer than I thought. I had to leave a number of questions blank or tick Don't Know as well.

I'll not be doing it then. I loose the will to live very easily with things like this these days
Anyway, I have a column to write for the Citroenian today...

Re: Proposed Changes to MOT Frequency - Government Survey Link
Just done it, but wish I had not. Besides, the DfT is not interested in joe public's opinions...they tend to listen to the industry, interest groups and lobby groups. The same happened with the consultation of the Highway Code resulting in the changes in Jan2022. My view for what it is worth = dont waste time and resources on changing the MOT for ICE cars. Focus on developing the MOT for EVs and self-drive systems etc.
