Xsara Break boot issues....

Hi all,

I've been the owner of my '04 Xsara Break 2.0HDI since late 2013 (when living in the UK) and have since moved to Portugal and overal pretty satisfied with the car.

Low MPG and just regular maintenance...and faulty BSI which I replaced about 4yrs ago.

Now...my biggest headache has been the boot. Frayed wires has been the main headache...

No rear wiper (conked out again recently), 3rd brake light, etc...but not being able to open it has been...well...

I've repaired wires, swapped out the boot release button and tested the lock itself, the latter tested by jumping a wire from the reg plate light to the lock and it popped back in to open position.

My central locking only works with key in the door and no longer walking up to of from it. My key is the 3-key fob.

Not sure wether BSI is acting up...

Thinking about just putting a switch on the dash with a 12V and running the wire to the boot lock.

I know it's a recurring topic and many have dealt with this....but don't see any other option.

Last time the BSI cost me 80€ +120€ to code it to the car.

Have you replaced the battery in the fob or had the fob tested to see if it is transmitting a signal?
If you are 100% the wiring into the tailgate harness is ok then the vehicle may be in valet mode, if this is the case it will only open with the tailgate release button on the fob, Unfortunately to get it out of valet mode you need a working fob.

Will try and replace the battery but key fob has been tested in the past and worked. Will test it again...if no avail I'll get a wire running from dash to boot lock and unlock it that way.
