Xsara Picasso - Glow Plug Replacement?

Unread post by SteveH1908 »

Hi, I was just wondering whether as part of 'sensible maintenance' whether you'd look to replace the glow plugs on a 2007 Picasso 1.6HDi (110bhp) - engine code DV6TED4? The car has done 131k miles, quite a lot of these long distance journeys and I am not sure whether the plugs have been previously changed. I don't experience any current cold start issues and it runs fine. I just did not know whether replacing them would be good practice? I'm not even sure how easy the job would be? Car gets a full service every c. 12k miles and I replace the oil and filter additionally every c. 6k miles. Thanks for your guidance in advance.

If you have no issues leave them well alone.

I agree. This was result of carefully trying to remove mine (2004 206 1.6 HDi DV6)

Tested all and none were working. Car started fine in that state. I decided to check and change them whilst doing other work (turbo failure) - ended up taking head off to retrieve the bits missing from the pictured old glow plugs.

Thanks both for your insight. I will definitely now not try to change them!
