C4 Picasso Automatic Gearbox Faulty message on Dashboard

Hi All

i have my 75000miles C4picasso 2014 Automatic stop start. Reg no. RV14 RTU. VIN no is VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff].

Once in week after starting the car gearbox does not chenage automatically. Dashboard says gearbox faulty since 55K miles. So i put to manual mode and drive off and after few seconds i change to automatic mode. Then it will drive with no troubles. No troubles with clutch in my view as it seems working perfectly and changing gear automatically with no troubles.

Any day if the car thinks not to select to first gear by automatic or manual mode it wont do it, no matter you tried n number of times. After i come back from shopping tried to start it works with no troubles. I cant afford shopping for usage of the car.

Occasionally i listened a big band or knocking metal hitting sound when changing gear when car started before driving off. i always ignore it as it works after that. It seems something got stuck at gear or clutch but when gear selected it tries to separate and making band sound. I doubt it is neither clutch or gear problem it the mechanism connecting both. I been to few garages no idea they have. One person told gear box oil is there and actuator is fine and fuses all okay but replace clutch would benefit.

Does anyone have any ideas before i spend £1400 for clutch? I have not done any job towards clutch or gear or any parts under the bonnet other than oil and filter change. If you can point out anything i can tell a mechanic to look at these areas..
