A very rare survivor spotted in Paggers yesterday... According to How Many Left there's just 2 on the road and 7 on SORN.
On this one the MoT expires at the end of December but it looks good for another...

On that theme I would suggest since June 75 or July 56 or for 756 weeks?
I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure!
I used to ride on two wheels, but now I need all four!

A pair of British Sports Cars.
The MGA has always been gorgeous in my eyes and was the transport for Richard Osman and his partner Ingrid Oliver in yesterdays Celebrity Antiques Road Trip.
The TR7 has tended to be a bit unloved but always catches my eye now when spotted in the wild, or coming up at auction, and comes in some interesting colours, and odd tartan interiors. Heading for quirky and interesting in my book now. The yellow one was the most interesting bit of a TV show which is quite probably an acquired taste but didnt capture my attention on a first viewing, "The Detectorists".

I like the Herald Hatch
A car that should have been put into production... It just needed a bit of a lower sill to be ideal...

Given that A40 Farinas had a split tailgate around this time, a lowering rear panel would have made all the difference to this prototype.
Better still, a one piece tailgate a la 1961 onwards MkII.

Re: I-Spy Classic Cars/Bikes-What have you spotted?
I must search that one out... That should be quite a looker from all angles
I've seen a good few videos featuring (mostly BMC/Leyland) hatchback prototypes and concept cars... Such a shame those in charge decided the public wanted a boot and there was no demand for a hatchback...
Some models naturally lent themselves to be hatchbacks and it seemed the boot was a bit of a bodged-in effort to satisfy those who held onto the boot belief...
Those videos generally make quite sad viewing. What could have been and how many defeats were snatched from the jaws of victory

Re: I-Spy Classic Cars/Bikes-What have you spotted?
That was quite an exception to the prevailing norm at the time... I remember dad having both a MK1 and a MKII... Quite an upgrade from the erstwhile A35 van!Dormouse wrote: 16 Jan 2023, 17:11 Given that A40 Farinas had a split tailgate around this time, a lowering rear panel would have made all the difference to this prototype.

Then he got a car I really approved of - a Mini

There is a lot of Bond Equipe in the Hatchback Prototype. Goes to show what Bond could have ended up with!

Re: I-Spy Classic Cars/Bikes-What have you spotted?
Out on my bike this afternoon I stopped by a car showroom in Olney... Not your usual stuff...
Many years ago this was once Souls Garage, a locally well regarded British Leyland main dealership. I bought a brand-new Metro Vanden Plas from them in 1988...
The garage has gone up in the world a bit since then... After Austin Rover succumbed they then became a Subaru (I think) dealer before becoming a very specialist high-end dealer...
