This isn't a "for sale or wanted", this is a heartbreaking story! I was in a restaurant in france having a meal, when I returned to find my car had been side swiped by someone who didn't care to leave his/her details!
I suspect it was a very large circus trailer, as they were arriving in town. Nobody saw or heard a thing (really?).
I did have a walk around but couldn't see a likely candidate.
Ok, so the damage (pause to wipe away tears), the front passenger wing has a mild scratch. The passenger door mirror was torn off and laying in the road. The front passenger door handle is destroyed and pushed in to the panel. Same thing for the rear passenger side door too. A nasty crease on the front edge of the rear wing, where it serves as a door shut is there too.
The car is a 2013 white Exclusive Tourer (estate) with the glass roof and I absolutely love it. The insurance company said it was a write off. But they're a bunch of b'stards, who didn't want to give me a hire car and a proper valuation of the car, so they would say that wouldn't they. Didn't even want to see it, just a photo of the side of the car. Not going to name names, but I didn't want the whole thing to turn into a saga.
So, I'm going to fix it myself as a long term project (too many other plates spinning at the moment, to spend proper time on it).
I bought a new door mirror for £60, which is fine, but in a "contrasting" colour. However, I need both front and rear door handles. They're the ones with the chrome inserts but if I can't get any, I'll change all four to something else. The doors either need some expert work or to be replaced.
Firstly, does anyone know of a front and also a rear door (no internal door cards required) I might obtain?
Secondly, does anyone know where I might get some door handles?
I've checked Fleabay to no avail a couple of days ago.
Also, I'm after any advice as to the best approach to take from anyone who has been there before eg Is the panel immediately behind the rear door edge repairable or do people generally replace these?
In a beautiful, ideal world, I'd find some in white to match the car, but paintwork is inevitable, so let's go "patchwork"!
I have, naturally, cursed the driver with the following: "May the fleas of a thousand camels, infest your armpits"
Any constructive advice and help will be most welcome, so thank you in advance.
