Ok had an issue whereby yesterday at minus damn cold car wouldn't start. It fired up then stopped with no start after that. Turns over ok.
Well after a whole lot of soul searching I got desperate and bought some easi start. It would fire but stop soon as it had used it.
So started digging deeper. Wondered if fuel filter was watered. Took it off and low and behold it was empty. Hence no starting. Ok primed the system and fired up no bother runs as usual. Couple weeks ago had to replace the egr . Anyone know why ff should drain. ?? Upon reassembly todY I did notice the fuel inlet pipe wasn't a tight fit. Double checked it was on as far as could be . Doesn't leak fuel but could it draw in enough air to empty the filter ???? Or any other ideas????

So it seems to be air in the fuel system.
If i were you i'd start monitoring the clear piece of fuel hose for bubbles first thing in the morning. Check to see that there are no bubbles. Does the car idle OK when you start it after sitting a prolonged period of time?
A good idea i've read is that you can wrap TPFE tape around the pipes on the fuel filter where the click-on fuel hose connectors plug into (and surely at connections elsewhere where you suspect air can enter the fuel system) and thus get an airtight fit. just make sure to not have grubby fingers when doing this since you dont want crud getting in the fuel injectors.
