Belingo tailgate issue
Wonder if someone could help please?
A friends missus has a problem with the tailgate. It doesn't shut so she can't lock the car. The 'hasp' or whatever it's called has come loose so it's not engaging with the door.
The plastic trim needs to come off to allow access to the screws. Looking at it, it seems to be plastic tanged clips as no screws are visible. Does anyone know if this is true and their rough location? I have a trim tool so hopefully won't bust many........ The vin is VF7**************[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff] I think, I took a photo but got some glare.
Thanks in advance

Re: Belingo tailgate issue
HI
If you have a cranked TX bit key you might get in without removing the trim.
Cheers

Cheers, I haven't and a standard one won't allow enough of a rotation. I have one of these but I don't think it will get them tight enough to last.
Thanks all the same for the reply.

Re: Belingo tailgate issue
Think I'll just start pulling at it with a trim tool etc. I need to get the trim off to properly set it's position with the door closed. If clips get broken at least their quite cheap. She needs to car for her mother's wheelchair and with the boot not closing it won't lock. Possibly could fool the car into thinking the boot is shut by flicking the catch with a screwdriver but this is a very temp measure. Another option would be to drill 2 holes in the plastic trim to allow access to the torx screws. I'll ask her how she wants to play it?

Re: Belingo tailgate issue
Actually it looks like that trim strip is only on MK3, just seems to be a plastic rivet at each end and two clips underneath:

Thanks very much Richard. Yep it's quite new. She's resending me the VIN as I type, I'll stick it up anyway once I get it.

Re: Belingo tailgate issue
To update this.
I had a look today, there are no clips visible at all so after discussing this briefly I took the abusive approach. Yep it came off.....and broke all 8 clips. This is a broken clip It fits in the plastic trim with no control regarding it's orientation so even if you had a forked flat trim tool the chances are you wouldn't unclip them all without damaging the majority. Oddly enough the 4 forward most central ones could be unclipped from under the car. I only realised this after removing the trim panel when I could see the drive!
They must be a 'one time fit' only.
Hope this helps if someone else needs to remove this panel.

Re: Belingo tailgate issue
That looks like the sacrificial buggers. I'll wait for Marc on the other thread to see the price from Cit. If not do a search on mainland Europe. Thanks James

Re: Belingo tailgate issue
I just did a search on ebay for Citroen trim clips. However, when Marc gets you the part number you can search for that on ebay (but it helps to precede the part number with Citroen).

Re: Belingo tailgate issue
Your idea of two strategically drilled access holes might have been a good idea. Put in two trim buttons afterwards and you have access for future adjustments if needs be.

Re: Belingo tailgate issue
It doesn't list them for the VIN, but there is nothing showing to hold that panel down; 9341PF is given elsewhere. You can release them if you can get to the back by squeezing them, but it is not easy, I wondered if a small ring spanner might help. The lower boot rear panel was fixed on with them on my Sister's C4 Picasso - and some were orientated really awkwardly inside the door!

Re: Belingo tailgate issue
The C5 X7 Tourer uses them in the boot spoiler too.
Quite incredibly brittle, so I'd put these in a the "just get it off and know you'll need new clips" territory!
The little black rubber ring is quite nifty, anti rattle feature. Is moulded on, tried removing to see if was reusable - nope.
Edit: punt should have been "put"
I'd punt these damn clips in the bin!
