Suddenly tiday I'm unable to select 2nd 4th and reverse gears gearstick is still positive no sloppiness at all

Il be up front I dropped and couldn't find a shirt 1/4 drive extension couple weeks ago. You know what it's like in the engine day. You drop it you lose it

Update. Took wife shopping tonight. Twice I engaged an even gear ie 2nd and 4th. Once on each ocassion it was smooth as normal so thinking a worn joint on cable

If the cables are the same as the C5 it's possible that the outer cable has come loose from the crimped-on ends and instead of moving the inner the outer is sliding in and out.
