Prestone coolant
Hi Lads, I usually use prestone coolant in all my cars as long as it is flushed through it should be ok shouldn't it. Anyone ever had problems with it in a c5.

Re: Prestone coolant
It should be fine as long as it's compatible with what is recommended for the C5 and is of the same type as is currently in there...
Mixing types, even after as good flush, is never to be recommended as the consequences of OAT and ethylene glycol types trying to mix can be quite problematical.
In my experience, however thoroughly you think you've flushed there'll always be a bit of the old coolant left behind hiding in various nooks and crannies.

Re: Prestone coolant
Originally the C5 X7 used ARTECO, part: 9735K1 (2lt)
I think they have now moved onto Freecor DSCAntifreeze. (Part: 1637756080) for 1 lt.

Re: Prestone coolant
Hi All, the coolant in it is a nice brown colour at the moment nice on tree trunks but not great in a car, I think it's just overdue a service, it runs nice apart from the knackered flywheel. So a thorough flush should do the trick, do any of you rate BOLK.

Re: Prestone coolant
The coolant used in the X7 was an orangey sort of colour - but colour is not necessarily indicative of the type of coolant or quality - it's the type of coolant that matters.

Re: Prestone coolant
Information for the X7 doesn't seem to be readily available I can only go by the data sheet DSC stuff you mentioned it's an ethylene glycol mix which is more or less the same. I just discovered there is a dealership beside the job. So I may just grab what ever stuff they're selling.
