Citroën C4 Picasso 2011 first gen TPMS fault

Unread post by Pilkasis_ »

Helio all. Sory for my bad english, not my first language.
I have really annoying problem with my C4. It fitted with tpms monitoring system, which one of the sensors started loose connection, as car is 2011. As a sensible person I decided change them all. Instead oem ones (600€ for 4), I decided to choose Hella ones by model. I got them paired, but sometimes tpms just loose connection to sensors. Sometimes just one, other times three or two, sometimes all. In one trip it happens n times. It's annoying, also those sensors wasn't cheap either. Tire shop wit their unit gets all info from sensors, but car does it only sometimes, also diagnostics shows that data not full. My local Citroën dealer suggested change all of them to oem ones, but if they work,I don't get it why I should change them.
After market one code is 6PP 358 139-161 , oem number for my oem ones. Don't know what to do now, any help appreciated.

High frequency antenna fault maybe?

Do you get any fault codes?

Only on console that tire pressure not monitored. Also diagnostics shows 6,5 bar pressure in tire.
Exact codes from diagnostics not clear, don't have diagnostics handy. Although errors dissapear after they dissapear in console.
Also all system worked just fine, until changing sensors... Really strange, but maybe first sensor wasn't bad in firs place
Also in parts catalogue i can not find any antenna

When original OEM sensors are fitted at new they must be a) activated using an 'Exciter' tool and then b) paired to the vehicle using proper diagnostic equipment.

If you have replaced the sensors, then of course there will be problems as the TPMS ECU is not recognising them. You will have to pair them correctly to the vehicle.

Interesting enough, they have been paired, even local Citroën dealer admitted that. But car doesn't let start calibration, they said. TPMS ecu has new sensors codes programmed, also ocasionally they see each other. I really don't want to believe that problem in pairing, because I think they wouldn't work at all. IMHO. But if there haven't been such occurances before then I just bark on The wrong tree.

I can only suggest that as your original sensors worked fine when paired that is is an issue with the aftermarket ones. Your original sensors have lasted well to this point being a 2011, as they are well over the 10 years battery life. Furthermore there were different types of sensors fitted to at least one variant of this vehicle, so there may be a compatibility issue.

Pop your VIN up and I'll see if your vehicle is one of them.

I really love this car, enoug to have after purchase changed motor, two turbines and DPF filter. So I gonna give that car up. It wasn't smart decision to change all sensors, only the one that was failing. But it's too late
