Meanwhile...this is Big Clive of course. I'll leave the American Krazy Ken up but you may prefer this, but it is longer!
His intro
This seems appropriate, since there's a current surge in unscrupulous marketers cashing in on the current "fuel crisis" by claiming that this style of heater will heat your whole house for pennies. In reality, a watt is a watt and a 500W heater like this will take four times longer to heat a room than a traditional 2kW heater.
His conclusion
"On the whole it's not too bad...ignore all the advertising it's not going to exclusively heat your house but I use one of these under my computer bench because that's when I'm least active and when it's cold in winter my fingers will get cold at the bench it just warms the bench and gives a warm upflow of air from it "

A rare appearance by Big Clive himself in this very short video. Hands up if you thought he looked like this? Hmm, I thought so...

I had no idea he had a beard, doesn't sound as though he has.

Two months doesn't make a summer but encouraging start.

Let's look at the evidence so far, Chez Falcon, the results are in for October 2022.
big reduction in gas consumption compared to 2021

That's very impressive Neil. The question is, how many fingers did you lose to frostbite?

The hot water bottle is a tremendous invention Paul. Heat the person not the room. Nothing has dropped off yet. :-D

I find going for a decent run is a great way of heating the person... These last few mornings I've arrived back home after a run absolutely roasting despite wearing only light running clothing...

Cycling is not so effective as there's a bit of wind-chill at play...

Keeping active certainly does make for a warmer person and concomitant reduction in the need for the heating to be on...

A new 15 minute video from Harry's Farm with details of a new ground-level install of solar panels he's had done and how it's not that brilliant at the moment. Also - the utterly ludicrous electricity pricing situation he's having to put up with. A little bit about the dramatic drop in ethanol production, and the widespread (near universal ?) misunderstanding about methane production by ruminants. As he says - it's oil consumption and the ever growing global population that's causing climate change. Who'd 'ave thunk it, eh ? 8-[

He talks a lot of sense that man. I've learnt more about farming from his videos than any TV program or individual. He lives in the real world.

An interesting article on the BBC website about how our sky high energy prices have been decades in the making. All the main political players come under the spotlight, though I'm sure that won't sit well with readers ruled by political dogma 8-[ i.e. It ain't the politician's fault !

"In a year of soaring electricity bills and fears of blackouts, energy has become the subject of a bitter blame game.
The world is in the grip of a global energy crisis, sharply exacerbated by the war in Ukraine and the strain that has placed on the supply of gas, a major resource.
But household energy costs are higher in the UK than almost anywhere else in Europe. How has it come to this?
Looking back at decades of political decisions, former energy ministers and industry experts have told the BBC where they think some mistakes were made........"

I'm very pleased I took up the option of free solar panels about 12 years ago, I didn't think it was going to make much difference to our bills - but it does now! I'm still training the wife to read the smart meter before she does any washing, tumble drying or cooking.

I also have a small diesel generator I can use - assuming we can get or afford diesel.

Been out from 10am until 11pm and the house has used 3kWh. Very dull and dark day, fair bit of rain so not much good for solar panels.

I've just got my list of solar for October, best day produced 11Kwh worst 1.9 Kwh so they still work even if the weather is dull

I should check mine but it is a pain to access and read. No remote monitoring, no smartypants meters.
