Hi.
I had a software update on my C4 Picasso a few weeks ago. Some days later, I realised that he "spare" key wasn't working. I took it back to the dealer and they said they needed both keys to be present at the time, in order for them both to be coded. Fair enough.
Today, they re-coded the keys.
When I got the car back, I went next door to the filling station and filled up. I noticed that the fuel gauge was about 1/8th off the top. OKay, maybe the pump handle knocked off early. Tried to top it off... the tank wouldn't take any more.
Better than that. I noticed the service light was on, the reg plate lights weren't working, the high-level brake light was dim and flickery and the front left headlight was out.
The car has literally just passed an MOT and I'm completely confident it wasn't in that state when I took it to the garage; the service lamp certainly wasn't on.
Out of curiosity, I swapped the headlamp bulbs over. The problem remained on the right hand side, so it isn't the bulbs.
The reason for the initial software update was that the alarm had been going off each time the car was locked. It never sat well with me that a software update could fix the alarm. Software doesn't wear out or fall off. Why would there be an update which would fix my alarm. But now, I'm utterly convinced there's something more sinister going on.
Has anyone got any clues at all what might be up, please?
Lights not working after "key code"?

No idea, bad earth or some other physical wiring problem maybe? But if this happened after the dealer did a software update and recoded the keys I'd take it back sooner rather than later for an explanation.
Of course they may say it's all a big coincidence...

Yes take it back. Depending on which ECU they updated, the software has either not been properly applied or the configuration needs manually checking. Software updates can take up to 3 attempts in some cases, but the configuration should always be checked afterwards. The fuel tank sender in this case looks like it has the incorrect fuel gauge law applied for your vehicle, so is not displaying the level correctly. They need to check the BSI configuration and correct that, as well as run through the other settings manually I would advise.

Seems the Service light comes on for the headlamp bulb only. Allegedly, the other bulb failures were incidental and may have already been faulty.
I was presented with a headlamp bulb which I could readily see without close inspection was very clearly very gilled. This is not what the bulb looked like last night when I swapped them over.
The high level brake light doesn't work at all. Not even a flicker. I've no energy left for a fight.
Does this really happen? That's so hard to believe. I mean, I've no reason to disbelieve you, but in this age, it just seems so ... well, you know?GiveMeABreak wrote: 02 Nov 2022, 10:28 Depending on which ECU they updated, the software has either not been properly applied or the configuration needs manually checking. I'll check when I next fill up.GiveMeABreak wrote: 02 Nov 2022, 10:28 The fuel tank sender in this case looks like it has the incorrect fuel gauge law applied for your vehicle, so is not displaying the level correctly. ^ Yes, it's actually officially stated that this may be the case - as their could be interruption or data corruption during downloading or applying the update locally. So once it has been correctly updates, a manual check in the case of the BSI for example should be made to ensure that all the customer options are correctly configured.
