Excellent work Mick... The igniter has packed up on my gas cooker after 23 years... I must see if I can find one of those on that site too...

Currently I'm using an old-school style gas igniter; a clever little device based on a cigarette lighter but with a long burner extension...

I'd like to fix the proper igniter as even with the hand-held igniter it's quite a bit of acrobatics to get down and light the oven... Could never do it with a box of matches!

My grill won't light with the igniter, have to use a disposable lighter or a match. Toasted fingers anybody?
The clock/timer is illegible too, have to count button presses to set a time (usually ask Alexa to do the timing now though).

Get yourself one of these Jim, you can ignite it while standing up and then light the oven from a safe distance!! :-D

Get one of those long extended burner lighter as I described Steve ;) No more toasted fingers and singed hairs on the back of your hand then!

I think I will opt for a new cooker Jim. When I have procrastinated sufficiently.
It's a toss-up between that and a new laser printer.
Don't use the grill much anyway.

Gosh, I use the grill all the time in preference to frying. Just today I cooked most of our brunch (bacon, sausages and tomatoes) under the grill and this evening I grilled some lamb chops.

We've got a big George Foreman grill, with removable plates so it's to clean, and an air fryer. Rarely use the gas oven or grill.

I tend to not use the oven unless I can put several dishes in to cook at the same time.

I didn't make clear that we cook on gas and so the cost of of using energy is a lot less than if we had electric only. The George Foreman is electric only I believe so I suspect that a gas grill will be cheaper.

Air friers seem to be very on trend but again they're electric only. I've also heard that people have been disappointed with the results with some of things they've cooked.

I have a GF. Rarely used, mainly for toasted sandwiches. Also a waffle maker from Sweden, must be fifty years old.
That they are electric doesn't matter, free to use in the daytime.

Rarely fry anything either.

Bought a new toilet seat. It waited four days before I got round to opening the box then another day before I looked into fitting it.
Stupid thing has stainless steel components that abut the porcelain so it wouldn't stay in place, just slid all over.

The precision application of UHU and some of the millions of o-rings and seals/washers that seem to have taken up residence here were pressed into action.

Works :)

Might buy another one tomorrow.
