Citroen C3 2013 A/C evaporaor leak

Unread post by tommy_xx84 »

Hi everyone...
our car has been diagnosed with an A/C leaking evaporator.

I was wondering if anyone here knows the specs (or part number) for the evaporator coil inside the box behind the dash.

I'm trying to source one so to not change the whole unit, which is quite expensive and feels like useless to replace the whole thing when it can be opened up to replace the coil inside.

I am located in Australia, and tried most of the suppliers here and also contacted some from Europe, but because everyone bases their checks on the VIN number (fair enough), everyone replies that the whole box needs to be replaced (PSA 6480A8) here OR that they can't read the VIN number (Europe suppliers) and therefore they say they can't help...

pretty sure it can be sourced somehow...but... can't figure out part number or specs for the little thing...

Haven't pulled the car apart yet as i don't want to get stuck to the point where i can't source it or i have to wait months to get the part so, i don't have the evaporator out to check codes on it or sizes etc.

here a video for a Peugeot 208 that shows it can be done (unit seems exactly the same) but ... no details on codes etc unfortunately

Happy to pm the VIN number if that helps

I think we looked into this for another user a couple of years ago and PSA do not sell the evaporator separately, and it has no official part number.

There did appear to be a Chinese supplier of replacement evaporators, but no indication of the compatibility or quality of their products.

Yes, PSA only provides the whole air distribution box (PSA 6480A8) and because of that, there isn't an official PSA number for it as well.

My quest is in finding just the little coil.
About the Chinese supplier, I'm not worried about quality etc (they are made there anyway in the first place most of the time).

I tried to reach out to some Chinese suppliers, but unfortunately, until i have the evaporator out, can't confirm sizes etc to them.

I was hoping that someone might have gone through the same and maybe noted down some codes or sizes etc etc...

I mean...the Peugeot 208 in the video above... same airbox... replacement coil brand new... for sure it must be out there lol
