Hope it’s sorted I’ve got no mag sensor on mine so I’ve still got no light at the end of the tunnel

Doggone1 I’ll keep thinking..
Well not good news my end either I’m afraid.
Still sounded like a tank and 50 tops with the smog following..
Does anyone else have the crankshaft floating cambelt pulley?? Just another train of thought…

On an XUD, no, HDi's do, may be wrong, sounds like a knackered woodruff key

No it’s meant to be like it I’ve read and seen loads of pictures online about it.. key is in place and the lower pulley has an oversized keyway for some reason..
I know that you have to lock that up too on timing but just wondered if it’s meant to move slightly whilst running or if bolting the aux pulley on clamps it in position to the crankshaft??

No, it shouldn't move once torqued. As I understand it, it's more of a belt tensioning thing.

Just a thought again, am I tightening it enough when installing.. ??
maybe it’s slipping and giving me my altering engine running pattern.. ??
Just like this afternoon, It was terrible after leaving work and most of the way home. Till I stopped for fuel / switched it off..
Started it up to it being ok. Drove home switched off at my sons school, restarted and got us home just fine..

Is the the keyway central after tensioning the belt, then, there is a correct torque, for a 2l HDI it's 70nm plus 67 degs I think, I go for 'kin tight. Have a read on one of Matts posts, all the timing is described

Woodruff keys are for location only and should play no part in transmitting drive...

In fact, woodruff keys are often designed to shear in case of a seizure of the driven item to avoid damage...

The cambelt sprocket and auxiliary belt pulley are locked in place and transmit drive through the high friction achieved by correctly torqueing the crank pully centre bolt... Torqued up FT!

Therefore a key slot slightly wider than the key in the sprocket is of no consequence provided the timing is confirmed to be correct...

I say again, check the timing using the index/locking pins and confirm all is correct...

Yeah Friday!!
A bit of time to try yet again..
Going to check every thing once again but want you all to make sure I’m doing it right for about the15th time..🤣😂
Timing up again..🙄
Got a lovely Allen headed threaded bolt with a shoulder which fits cam pulley to perfection and screws in snug.. ?
7mm Allen key eased up under the starter motor locates through bell housing and you can hear a ting from the flywheel as it locates.. ?
The back end of a 6mm drill bit fits tight through the fuel pump pulley back plate and locates into fuel pump body.. ?
Leaving the pulley free to move with all 3 bolts loosened..
Where should the pulley sit on the 3 loosened bolts???
I have always made sure it’s central in the bolt slots.. ??
Sorry for boring you all again with my problems..
but just the couple of above questions for now if that’s ok 🤣
Btw thank you all for your input.. 👍🏻
